Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

Parish has Palace survival and success as his absolute priority. I think the big Sam and Pullis issues are exactly the same as what Ollie has right now. They only care about winning now (same as us) and success. Alas Parish cares about not breaking rules or getting into trouble etc. frustrating as hell but you can’t say we have not enjoyed the best and greatest days Pslace have ever had in the last decade. Parish hasn’t done us bad so far and he is first and foremost going to make sure Palace remain a premier league club. To grow needs the stadium. Textor was absolutely right Parish’s main ambition is a seat at the premier league table. In that he has been a massive success, even Jordon admits this and was something he could not do.

As much as it pisses me off to see players go and ridiculously slow incomings we are making small incremental gains. We are a better club than we were. This season at the moment I would say more a team but obviously weaker with ebbs goes and it’s proven whoever we bring in will need a good month to bed in to Ollie’s system… the problem is Ollie seriously looked f***ed off yesterday. Normally ice cool he was emotional and I fear if the window closes and he does not get what he wants including MG staying (Ollie will not care about the revenue loss) he will walk.

Fun being palace isn’t it.

I think his issue with Esse isn’t ability. He saw what he was capable of against wolves. Rewarded him with time against Liverpool the next game. It is lack of maturity as evidenced in that Liverpool game
When we were showing an interest in Esse, I contacted a lifetime Millwall supporter whose knowledge of the game and judgement of players i respect.
He asserted that Esse was probably one of the best they have produced but he was one for the future.

….and when Glasner talked of the need for early strengthening in the window it was clear that what he had in mind was players who could be used in the here and now, not the future.
It seems to me that Parish has concluded that, at most, Glasner will be here just for the season. He is not going to pander to the requests of Glasner, no matter how reasonable they appear to be.
I say this without knowledge of why Parish has gone down this route.

First time I’ve seen Steve P look, less than his usual collected self yesterday in his post match interview. Even when the camera panned to him at his seat in the game, the bloke looked really troubled and stressed.. I thought his eyes gave it away more than anything. Obviously we are not privy to what the reasons for this may be. Obviously not a good look with both Oli’s and Steve’s contradictory comments, there’s clearly and unsurprisingly an issue with those two now. I think the damage is probably already done, irrespective of who we get in now. Oli is gone, either following the close of the window or end of the season for sure. I don’t blame him, if there was ever a time to back the manager in the seat, it was now.

I have a feeling that you are right and almost whatever happened (other than the now defunct hope of staying in the Europa League and winning it to qualify for CL) Parish's view is that Glasner will be going to a high end PL / European club at the end of this season. He had a good reputation before coming to Palace, with a few bumps, but now he is at the top of the list of managers to head into the higher echelons in Europe along with Iraola perhaps. The UEFA debacle and huge prices for average players have really disrupted any plans, if any, to push on and Parish is staying absolutely true to form with a prudent approach (though never far from the edge of disaster) to spending just enough to keep clear of relegation with aspirations of 10th - and you have to say that as of now Harris, Blitzer and now Woody Johnson seem right behind that strategy.

I think the same. Parish knows that Ollie will be off so why get into trouble trying to keep him happy. Like offering MG an extra £50k a week when he wants bigger and better. So as much as it’s not good for us the fans Parish will do what is right long term. Painful though.

Well OG isn’t wrong. Yet again the timing of our business is the problem. We know it isn’t straight forward doing transfer business but every other club seems to manage to do a lot of their’s much earlier. That means we either leave it late by design or we are incompetent. Either way it causes problems. Last year the sale of Anderson proved correct in the long term but the timing was awful and definitely cost us points. This year we all knew one of Eze and Guehi was definitely going and maybe both. To seemingly have zero planning for that is a pretty damning reflection on our set up

What is it with Esse ? The manager puts him on the bench every game but when we needed an injection of something different for them to worry about, he ignores the only attacking threat on the bench. And Munoz last night I think put in only one decent cross although he wasn’t the only one as we took ages to get the ball in the box.

Glasner's view on the window, 'it's our fault, it's completely our fault...we could have done much better...'
The use of the 'collective. '
Further in the conference , 'I don't sign the players...'

It's clear who he holds accountable.
Absolutely and rightly so.. He put out a warning last season about our lack of business.. Parish and Co have decided to completely ignore him and this pre season has been even worse in terms of getting players in which I find bizarre seeing as we now have Europe to contend with.

I genuinely wouldn't blame Glazner in the slightest if he walked away right now.. I'm not saying he will of course but I wouldn't blame him if he did.

From the high of the Cup Final I thought that might be the time the club finally kicked on.. To say what has happened since the 17th Mau (Community Shield aside) has been disappointing would be an understatement.

Clearly OG doesn’t have faith in Esse. Could be he trains poorly. Maybe he has a bad attitude or doesn’t follow the manager’s instructions. Either way I think OG has shown us we should trust his judgement on players

The more I read the worse it becomes.
In relation to Eze and the likelihood of him going, Glasner said, 'the profile of player(we needed) has been defined for months, for months. We knew he was likely to go because of the release clause which we could do nothing about..'

Clearly he cannot get his head around why the club was not prepared and less importantly neither can I.

Makes three of us.

I cut a certain slack with the 'what do I know about running a football club?' sentiment however if the manager is as baffled as I am, I give it some stock.

Agree. I can't think why we've left it this late when I think everyone knew that we would lose Eze and/or Guehi. I can only think that Parish got distracted by the EUFA appeal and didn't want to sign players until we knew for sure what was going on, but that's just an excuse as we would need them regardless as we all knew we'd be playing in Europe one way or another.

I think Parish has messed up with this one.

Yes, he knew exactly what he wanted in terms of players, but don't forget, months ago our Director of Football (and probably most of his scouting contacts) went off suddenly. So, who is out there finding these players to fit the profile?

It's a shame that in our finest season ever, we have had a total sh*tstorm of disasters - Dougie going, continual will they/won't they with Eze/Guehi, the whole sorry Euro League/Conference/Textor saga, is it any wonder that the forward planning hasn't been all that it could have been?

It makes me smile the way people who probably don't have even 5 digits on their bank balance expect the club to find tens of millions at the drop of a hat, to buy, and pay, players we may not even need if someone doesn't leave.

It's ironic that Parish went through all that trouble with UEFA just to prove that he was blameless and the club have been wronged blah blah blah when the truth is we do not have a squad capable of competing effectively in both the Premiership and Europe, and surely he knows this. We would have fared badly in the Europa League if the performance against Fredrikstad is anything to go by. Yes, Eze is on his way, but how about planning for the future Steve, instead of just reacting?

What a ridiculous comparison to make.
That's kind of how being a Premier League club works.. You have to pay out millions for players.
We have 17 outfield players and will most likely lose Guehi as well. The season has started and we have Europe to contend with as well.
Not acceptable however you look at it.
