Naturally, will be very sad to see Ebs go. He’s been such a key player for us. He’ll always be a Palace hero and I wish him every success. Spurs feels a bit underwhelming since I expect us to finish above them this season. He’ll get a single season in the CL which he won’t realistically get with us. It would be easier to take if it was Arsenal.
The sad reality is we are a stepping stone club. For promising youngsters, seeing players like Olise, Eze, Guehi and Wharton move onto to bigger clubs/England will make us an attractive next move. It hurts now but will work in our favour in future.
No individual is bigger than the club and we will always lose our big fish to a bigger pond. One would assume this scenario was expected and a suitable replacement is already lined up.
My guess is that Eze & Guehi will be replaced by Elliot & Diomande. If so, we’ll have two younger players on long term deals, hopefully with a bit of change.
