Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

LOL clickbait saying we will sign Sterling, what then, Rashford and Grealish?

Even for click bait it's a pretty poor story. He'd use Palace to avoid having to move? How magnanimous of him.

😀

Sterling is one of those players who starts out as first choice and gradually ends up as an impact sub. I haven't followed his career enough but it does seem that multiple managers end up getting rid. Clearly there is a player there but at his age he isn't going to change.

Why on earth click bait would think that we would be interested in him and Rashford (Barcelona bound) I have no idea as our transfer policy is quite clear. He is a West Ham Spurs or Everton type player.

JPM might kick more than a corner flag if we paid £20,000,000 for anyone and paid him 6 x as much after a season in which he scored 1 goal in 28 appearances.

If we show enough 'interest' in Raheem, he will 100% end up at West Ham!

Does anybody seriously think we’re going to sell 5 of the first team this summer?

I would think the answer is clearly no.

Nonetheless, the speculation continues around Munoz, Lacroix, Guehi, Eze and Mateta.

That’s not easy reading for the fans, including those who dismiss everything as ‘clickbait’ even when there may well be be some substance to the rumours.

I suppose you could look at it as a good sign that some of our players are in such demand.

When Glasner was asked about this last season he continually said that nobody had asked to leave and it genuinely seems to be a squad with a good bond.

It’s complicated though when e.g Mateta still hasn’t signed a new contract, and even those that have such as Munoz ( understandably) has expressed a view that he would move to a top club if the opportunity was there.

I’m also conscious that a seemingly well run club like Brentford have lost their manager and star midfielder this summer with Mbueno and possibly Wissa due to follow.
I wonder if their fans are having second thoughts about their season ticket renewals.

6 players, you've missed out Wharton.

The Six week deadline for Eze is up Tomorrow, if true, then 68m becomes 120m, and nobody bid then, Guehi will see his contract out, with his good christian attitude, nobody else has mentioned a release clause for any other player, if Muñoz had one, i think he would be gone by now, i don't think any key player will leave, hopefully, but i don't see any big signings coming in, if Franca can stay fit i think he will be awesome.

Sterling is a spent force IMHO and i would keep well away.

In terms of click bait we were linked with him last year, before he went to Arsenal so that's where the connection comes from.
There were quite a few on here who thought he'd be a good option for Palace this time last year. Surely the loan at Arsenal has demonstrated the opposite.

Incidentally although he is on £300k a week supposedly Arse only paid £100k a week towards that and we did pay similar for Chilwell so a £100k a week loan is not out of our price range.

While I agree he's way past his best now, I do think his career and achievements are really underrated by a lot of football fans - he's up there with the best wingers in the world over the last decade, and was a key player in the most successful team in the country when at City.

There's a very strong argument he's the best winger England have ever produced.

I'm sure Stanley Matthews would be delighted to hear that 😀
