Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

I would rather not be in the Conference, but if we are stuck with it, the best thing to do is win it. We are very capable of doing so, and that would mean Europa League the following season.
If we hadn’t won the cup, but we’d had a great season and finished 7th or 8th and qualified for the conference - we’d have been well happy with that - so it we’re stuck with then let’s just get on with it, and hopefully make it two trophies in two seasons. Imagine that.

CAS site, cases are mainly held in private but are listed in advance.
UEFA will be before them tomorrow due to a case brought by FK Dac 1904 from Slovakia after they were refused entry to the Conference League due to multi club ownership rules!

I understand the attempt to put a positive spin on potentially playing in the Conference, but we won the FA Cup fair abd square with some of our best performances in recent seasons and shouldn't have to settle for second best.

The mentality of 'little old Palace' should know it's place and be grateful for anything it gets shows a lack of aspiration and ambition which I know Parish, Glasner and probably the players don't share.

Whilst admiring the equanimity of this view I can't share it. Yes, after 8 games last season the prospect of European football was a distant dream, but that was then and this is now. We won the cup and I don't see why we should be grateful for the crumbs off EUFA's table just because we weren't as lawyered up as other clubs.

Do we know when FK Dac 1904 contacted CAS, how long did it take to happen before the case was heard?

err. 3 at least (inc Charity Shield)

IF we are confirmed in the conference then I think the best response is to show we belong.
Lets fill Selhurst even for opposition that we haven`t heard of previously and to go a long
way into the tournament even win it!
The majority of clubs in last seasons Conference league averaged less than 10k, small crowds are not unusual. That is why the best statement would be to take it seriously, I do not see a benefit from not
doing so. However, I can see benefits by taking it seriously.

I see UEFA are going after the big names!

Maybe Palace and DAC just need to stick a Red Bull in front of our name and we'll be granted safe passage.

I don’t think DAC have much of a case. Both DAC and Gyor are owned by the same individual Oskar Vilagi. Gyor are Hungarian, DAC are Slovakian.

Vilagi thinks there is an agenda against DAC because the club is mainly associated with ethnic Hungarians.

But we won the cup and earned a place in the Europa League as a result. You may as well have said "Oh we didn't get relegated so let's enjoy it".

Have some backbone man.

We could also rotate a lot more in the conference league especially in the group games instead of playing our strongest side every game like we would do in the Europa League.

I would definitely fancy our chances of winning it finishing 12th again in the league and getting Europa the year after.

I asked AI

Is John Textor a c***?

Here's an analysis of John Textor's recent activities and controversies, aiming to address the question of whether he is a "c***." This is a subjective and potentially offensive term, and this response will focus on objective facts and reported behaviors to allow the user to draw their own conclusions.

According to www.iAsk.Ai - Ask AI:

John Textor is a prominent figure in the world of football, primarily known for his ownership and investment in various clubs. His actions and statements have generated significant controversy, leading to legal battles, accusations of corruption, and scrutiny from governing bodies.

Key Controversies and Actions
Match-Fixing Allegations in Brazil: Textor, through his company Eagle Football, owns Botafogo in Brazil. After Botafogo lost a significant lead in the Brazilian Serie A, Textor made public accusations of match-fixing, alleging that certain matches were manipulated to benefit other teams, particularly Palmeiras.[1] He claimed to have evidence based on an AI-driven report but has been reluctant to provide specific details or evidence to the relevant authorities.[2] These accusations led to a complaint against him by Palmeiras and an investigation by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) in Brazil.[3] The STJD dismissed his claims as "worthless" and recommended a six-year ban and a fine for Textor, citing damage to the reputations of multiple teams, players, and referees.[4] Textor has also stated that manipulation in football is a reality and that he will present evidence to senators.[5]
Financial Disputes and Legal Battles: Textor is involved in a legal dispute with investors James Dinan and Alexander Knaster, who he claims defrauded him in a financing deal related to Eagle Football Holdings.[6] The investors allege Textor is trying to avoid a nearly $94 million payment.[6] The suit involves a complex financing arrangement tied to an ill-fated go-public deal for Eagle Football Holdings Limited.[6]
UEFA and Crystal Palace: Textor's ownership structure has led to complications with UEFA regulations. Because he owns stakes in both Lyon and Crystal Palace, UEFA ruled that Crystal Palace could not compete in the Europa League, despite qualifying, due to the conflict of interest rules.[7] Crystal Palace was relegated to the Conference League as a result.[7] Textor has since attempted to sell his stake in Crystal Palace to facilitate a takeover of Everton.[8]
Criticism of Governance: Textor has been vocal in his criticism of the governance of French football, labeling it as "corrupt" and criticizing the decision-making processes of the DNCG (Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion), the financial watchdog.[9]
Analysis of Actions and Statements
Textor's behavior can be characterized by the following:

Accusations without Substantiation: He has made serious accusations of match-fixing without providing concrete evidence to the appropriate authorities, leading to criticism and legal repercussions.[1]
Public Criticism: He has publicly criticized governing bodies and other clubs, often using strong language.[9]
Legal Disputes: He is involved in multiple legal battles related to his business dealings.[6]
Strategic Business Moves: He is actively involved in acquiring and selling stakes in football clubs, indicating a focus on business and investment.[8]
Conclusion
Based on the available information, it is not possible to definitively answer the question of whether John Textor is a "c***." The term is subjective and offensive. However, his actions and statements have been marked by controversy, including unsubstantiated accusations, legal disputes, and public criticism of football governance. These actions have led to significant negative consequences, including potential bans and financial losses.

I think that's a yes.
I think we’d all reached that conclusion some time ago!

I agree with this. Why should we settle for their corruption. But also agree with
Davepalace707, in that if this was offered at the beginning of the season, we would all have been more than delighted.

I now think we should go and try our damnedest to win the tin-pot cup, but refuse to collect it after the final.

Alternatively, the players could collect it and kick it around in a 5-a-side fashion

I’d say the Drogheda United - Silkeborg IF MCO case has more similarities with ours though. Both those clubs won domestic cups they weren’t really expecting to win, and each earned a place in the Conference League but the Irish finished lower in their league than the Danes so have been booted.

I don’t think there are similarities.

Drogheda and Silkeborg are both owned by Trivela. Our case is based on the shares that Textor had before the competition started.

There is a web page on the Drogheda case on the Irish Law Society site.

It doesn’t look good as it seems Drogheda tried to use the notification issue, and were brushed aside.

I think we would be better off looking at the solid mitigations we put in place, and whether we really were in an MCO.

I think there is an issue with Strasbourg v Le Havre, but the burden of proof required from us is high.

This snippet from the Guardian doesn't augur well if the club does appeal to CAS.
It will be interesting to see the grounds for the appeal - that the original decision was wrong, that the punishment was out of proportion, that the decision was unfair as Palace was unable to comply etc.
If the club merely claims that the original decision was wrong, it may well be that CAS will uphold the original decision as was the case with the Mexican club.
The club needs to find another approach.
