Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

It seems there's a decent chance CAS will overturn this as the clause UEFA are basing this on looks debatable at best.

One thing football bodies are crap at is upholding their rules. Just see the number of cases the Premier League has lost recently and how Many City are currently dancing around them. City won the right to get even more lucrative 'sponsorship' deals from the Emirati and Newcastle have the right to do the same from the Saudis. The Prem also lost their case on enforcing PSR regulations on Leicester.

What the bodies have managed to do is punish Palace for Textor having too much control, when he has argued for years his frustration at not having any control, and benefit:

Lyon, whose finances are so bad they were initially relegated by their own league

Forest, who have broken PSR rules and whose owner quite literally runs two clubs (but that is fine as long as the paperwork says something else)

and allow City and Girona who have the same sponsor (the owners), Girona are 47% owned by the City Football Group and are the largest owner, and have made 25 transfers between each other on the last 10 years.

The rules aren't even stopping the thing they're meant to stop. It's an absolute farce.
Is what I've been saying. CAS are not corrupt unlike UEFA. They'll weigh both arguments and rule in favour of who they think are right. Dont forget UEFA AND FIFA threw everything they had at Jean Marc Bosman. CAS ruled in his favour, because he was right and the huge multi million backed organisations were wrong.

Looking at the positives... no-one cares much for the Conference League so Palace can use it as a series of competitive friendlies and give the squad players a game and rest the stars (until the knockout phase). Keeps the squad happy and doesn't hinder our league performance. Assuming we don't see more than 1 of our stars leaving in the summer we have a very good first team so should be looking to try and finish inside the top 10.
We still get a chance to watch the team in Europe. The teams we play wont be as good but some of the teams in the Europa league are awful too. The prize money is half the Europa but winning it gets you 20 million, not to be sniffed at. More chance of winning the Conference league with only a handful of decent clubs in it. Ultimately we won the FA Cup and Europe was just a bonus.

The rules suck and other clubs cheat their way round them (Red Bull etc) but in the end we can't complain if we don't abide by them. Its like complaining because the police arrested you from stealing when another bloke get let off.

Don't knock it lads. Heck, we are in a European competition and I, for one, would not have imagined that possible just a few months ago.

So, make sure your passports are up to date and enjoy the ride. We can build on this next season.

"Are appeals to CAS usually successful?"

Appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) are generally not successful, with most appeals failing due to procedural issues rather than on the merits of the case. While the CAS handles a large volume of cases, particularly in sports-related disputes, overturning a CAS decision is relatively rare

UEFA know this.

Ok we live on a modern society where as a default we go for 'who can we blame...'

Well let's look at the current board....

They must have know about these rules and must surely have considered we might be in breach.

But we chased the money and now we suffer the consequences.

Yes it's unfair but we should have seen this coming.

But we are on Europe and I reckon of we invest we can boss this competition. But we won't invest and we won't boss as we need to pay for the white elephant stand.....

In the final analysis, UEFA have concluded that Textor had decisive influence at our club, we vehemiently disagree.
Over to CAS.

We still get the chance for some brilliantly obscure away games. There are teams from Gibraltar and Israel in the qualifying rounds lol ffs. Myself and a couple mates are dead set on doing 2/3 European away games at the very least, but with 3000 points I’ll probably end up buying a ticket in the home ends for resale value. uefa c🇪🇺nts. Eagles fly above the clouds. We can rise above this corrupt f*ckery. #bants #clutchingatstraws

Even more nuts is that the club that won the oldest cup competition in the history of football is the one that gets thrown out of the formerly-named Cup Winners Cup

Oh the irony!
I’m a bit pissed of that the FA didn’t make a statement or fight our corner as this could devalue (not in our eyes) the FA cup.

Are we surprised at EUFA's corruption? It is hardl new to them. It is probably a requirement in order to be part of their higher echelon!!
