Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

Just as a general comment, I read this on the BBC website today.

"Partick Thistle have appealed for fans with spare rooms to take in new signings, and help them integrate into life in Glasgow.

The fan-owned club, who play in the Scottish Championship, told BBC Scotland News four supporters had already responded to the initiative."

There's a big part of me that thinks this is a great idea... propose the Fan Advisory Board takes this up with so we can offer our own Palace Fan / player buddy system. What could go wrong?

Imagine walking into the kitchen to find the fridge being attacked by a Mr. Brolin.

Crystal Palace are themselves in talks with Sporting over a potential £45m deal for their Ivory Coast defender Ousmane Diomande, 21. (Guardian), external

Italian defender Davide Calabria, 28, is also a target for Crystal Palace. He impressed on loan at Bologna last season but is a free agent after leaving AC Milan when his contract expired. (Sky Sports, external)

Based on current rumours it feels like we've gone from shopping in the Hamley's Toy Section for the likes of Diomande to scrabbling for out-of-fashion odds and bobs in Poundland. Hopefully, this is a sign of expert scouting and not a sign of an empty bank account.
I was thinking the opposite. Honestly don't understand what you've based this on.

Were we linked with Mbappe or something?

I was talking prices rather than status i.e. Diomande aprx. £45 million, Ndoye £30-40 million, etc.

The higher-priced rumours have been replaced with free transfers, low fees and loans.

It was more an observation of the rumours section than anything else.

Good then. I don't want to see us jizz cash like that.

i personally think this could be an excellent bit of business.

We do need to improve a number of positions so we need to be smart with our spending and the loan market is a way we can do this short term.

As we play 3 CBs we probably need 5 to fill these 3 positions. You could potentially include Lerma as one of these, but i'd exclude Riad as he will be coming back from a serious injury. Obviously we also don't know whether MG will be with us next year too.

Richards, Lacriox and Guehi were essentially ever present the last 5 or so months of last season. With the extra games injuries and suspensions and also fatigue/loss of form must be factored in.

So getting a young and versatile defender (he plays RB too) in on reasonable wages and loan fee seems a sensible way forward. Even if he is not a regular, with cup matches and rotation he will play maybe 50% of games, more than he would at Chelsea and their bloated squad.
