El Hadji Diouf

Judging from the moon boot he's got on in that photo it's going to be just a minor fracture and certainly not a career altering one. He'll be back up and running (literally) in no time.

The lad looked decent last night (along with most of the Senegal team to be fair).

And still only 20.

(on a side note, also interesting to see Sarr on the left)

Thought he looked excellent against England. Would love us to sign him but wonder if that ship has sailed. Full of running and unreal athleticism. Would really fit into the Glasner model and with Munoz on the other side i think that makes us even more of a threat on the break.

Shame I liked the look of him but we don't get involved in bidding wars.
Thats True, Parish has always moved on when it looks like we're being played off someone else to up the price but Its his club (which is 100% their right) that have played hardball with the price.
From the moment Palace showed an interest I've read we have been miles apart on valuation. They're entitled to ask whatever they want. He's their player but I dont see too many takers. Even cash rich Prem clubs want value for money these days.

If they have dropped out and are pursuing Sosa, then they are clearly backing Mitchell as the main man. So a solid floor but a low ceiling. Bit of a shame as Diouf can certainly send in a great cross on the run. Having said that, Mateta, for all his strengths does not score many headers

We all know the Spammers overpay, they always do so let’s leave them to it in that case. Knowing them they will offer something ridiculous like £40m. Selling clubs must rub their hands and see pound signs in their eyes when they see that the Spammers are interested lol

yep 100%.

He looked decent against England, but he plays in the Czech league. Will always be a bit of a gamble to see if he can make the step up. You take that gamble at £10-15m. But when it gets silly, let someone else take the risk.

Old Chinese saying,' He who hesitates is lost'!!
I'm not aware we hesitated. We didn't like the price they wanted in January. We weren't happy with what they still wanted this Summer and moved on the Sosa. Yes, Sosa is more of a stop-gap solution but he has experience in far better leagues that the Czech league and at £2m is a bargain IMO.

Had we bought Diouf in January at the price Slavia wanted, he would have been the most expensive player to have been sold from the Czech league, which iMO would have made him overpriced.

Ollie might not have been that interested in him. We already have Mitchell who is excellent defensively and gives us balance when Munoz is bombing forward on the other flank. And now we have back up with Susa who hardly cost us anything.
