Eze to spurs?

What we do know is that Thomas Frank is the new manager of Spurs, and that from previous comments he has a high regard for Eze.

We can’t say for sure, but it’s possibly safe to assume that he was assured of transfer funds being available before taking the job.
They are in the Champions League and have one of the biggest stadiums in the league.

It’s also widely reported that Eze has a release clause in his contract.

So there’s a number of questions.

Does Frank in reality want to make Eze the club’s flagship summer signing?
Would the notoriously cagey Levy meet the terms of the release clause in full?
Does Eze even want to go to Spurs?

I see a few big hurdles before this happens.

If true, this excerpt from the Beeb's Gossip column could result in an interesting battle:

"Arsenal will take on north London rivals Tottenham for the signing of Crystal Palace and England midfielder Eberechi Eze, 26, who is priced at £68m. (Sun)"

BTW Eze will be 27 on Sunday and JPM 28 tomorrow.
The next move would be the last big move for the pair of them so it has to be right. I wouldn’t necessarily put Spurs in the right move category and Eze to Arsenal would probably result in him being an impact substitute for a lot of games. At £68m I can see Eze staying and I get the feeling Mateta wants to stay at present.

Purely as an outsider looking in.... I don't see an obvious move for him. I'd understand if he wants to join a 'bigger' club, play regular European football, win trophies etc. I'd wish him well. He wouldn't want to do a Zaha.

Spurs: Doesn't feel like an upgrade. They are playing CL next year but I doubt they'd qualify again the following season. I expect us to finish above them in the league.

Arsenal: Likely to be on bench and would have to really fight for his place. Can he risk this with a World Cup on the horizon?

Man City/Liverpool: Same as Arsenal.

Bayern Munich: Seems the best option, but would he want to leave the PL and live in Germany? Big lifestyle change.

My guess is that he also has doubts over all options. Is there an option that we increase his salary with a one year extension to his current contract? He get's more money, plays regularly to secure his World Cup place and reassess at the end of next season? The one year extension protects us against his transfer value dropping.

My question is, has Eze gone up in value since he was last available via a contract clause?

Despite an FA Cup winning goal, I'm inclined to say no. Perhaps he's gone up in value a little bit to us fans of Palace, but to a buying club? I'm not sure.

I only see a club buying him if they are a powerhouse club that likes spending huge money to prevent other teams having good players.

Me too which, although not out the question, is why I think it a tad unlikely that he goes. Great player but that’s a lot of money to fork out for a top team bench filler.
If the Arsenal rumours are true, they will see him starting over Martinelli. But Rodrygo would be a better purchase. They look like they are falling further behind City and Liverpool at the moment

Yup it's a North London auction

Spurs (Levy) We bid £5 plus Clive Allen
Gooners We bid £10 plus Denis Berkamp

Etc.

My concern is not how much we do or do not get for Eze. But, last year we replaced Olise with Sarr, although Sarr has done well he isn't as good as Olise. Guehi replaced by this Diomade fella (arguably Riad as well). But who do we get to replace Eze? out of the options in the squad Kamada, got better as the season went on but is better deeper, Franca, not really met what we hoped for him, Devenny still young and unproven to rely on.

Og may have someone in mind that he'd like to sign.
Although eze is a class player consistency is not his fortè and maybe ollie would like players to come in to give us 7 out of 10 performances every week.

I’d be quite happy with £68M for Eze.

If he does move we won't get £68m.

Firstly the release clause appears to be £60m upfront and £8m based on add ons , which aren't guaranteed.

Of that £60m QPR have a sell on clause which may be as much as 25%.

Using 20% as a guide and say we paid £20m for Eze (with add ons it was c£19m i think) QPR would get £8m of the profit we make.

So upfront Palace would get £52m.

£52m? You couldn't even buy George Weah's cousin for that these days!

But hopefully it's a sufficient deterrent to stop someone forking out for him.

Who knows with transfer fees? Liverpool reckon they can get £34 m for Quansah and offer £30 m of it for Guehi. Quansah has played 7 games more for them than Guehi has for England.

If it's Arsenal vs Spurs then he is going to pick Arsenal 100% as that was his dream as a boy (before he had an even better reality at Palace!)

They have sold Quansah, subject to medical. The big difference is that his Liverpool contract lasted to 2029 so they were in a much better bargaining position than Palace with Guehi
