Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

We are being linked with Gomez of Liverpool. A good centre back with a poor injury record.

If he is replacing Holding and not too expensive then fine.

I have not heard of any interest in Joe Gomez.
A player who did not like heading the ball when he was at the Charlton academy !
He was playing at Right-Back at Charlton before his transfer to Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers started Gomez at Left-Back.

Sunderland are favourites, they can have him.

i expect it's the old player swap deal with us.

An example of quite how terrible the standard of reporting is:

'How Steve Parish feels about selling Marc Guehi amid links with Liverpool'

Not one quote or anything even close to it.
My problem is there are so many clickbait football pages now. Inside Football, Give Me Sport... it's mostly b*llocks some spotty kid has copied and pasted from another unsubstantiated webpage. We can look at these but until something is on the CPFC website (and maybe we loosely trust BBC, SSN) we might as well read a Harlan Coben novel.

A sad state of affairs if we only get £55m for Guehi when they are asking £40m for Quansah. There's a huge gulf in class between the two players in my view.
In many respects this is right but Guehi, only has twelve months left of his contract, Palaces chance of really big money was last summer, not that £55mill isn’t big. My disappointment so far is that it comes to this, because clubs can wait us out at worse and we get nothing. Guehi, and his agents seem to want the big money bonus that goes with a big club move regardless of any fee.
If there is no chance of Guehi signing a new contract surely he has to go and £55 mill plus some add on,s would not be a bad outcome. Get it done. Get a decent replacement in and set about Europe, is my feeling.

I think there's a bit of brinkmanship going on by interested parties, although not necessarily Parish or Guehi themselves.

So far we've heard
- Guehi is happy to see out his contract at Palace enabling him to sign for a 'giant ' club as a free at the end of the season with a very lucrative deal
- Palace won't sell him this summer if they can't get the realistic fee they demand for him, and won't be taken advantage of just because he has only one year left on his current contract.

I don't see either of those scenarios materialising and believe he will be sold, but possibly at the end of the window as the game of poker continues.

The valuation of a player is often linked to how long remains on their contracts, but Guehi is an unusual case.
He's one of England's top defenders, young, rarely injured and incredibly consistent.
This should encourage competition for his services and drive the price higher (in theory at least).

Absolutely. It's in the agents' interest for players to move around and if other clubs are offering silly wages we can't compete with then they have to go while we can get a fee.
Wonder how the players feel when their agent recommends a move to another country when they have no need to live there themselves. Barcelona fair enough but some place in the back of beyond? No thanks.

Agree Quansah is over priced - i think it is a £34m 'deal' not £40m BTW, but if we were to get even £50m for MG with only 12 months left of his contract that is fantastic business.

I suspect if we do agree a price it will not all be upfront too - so maybe £45m upfront and £10m add ons. The spurs cheeky £70m bid in January was £55m upfront and £15m add ons.

I believe Liverpool's opening bid is c£35m so they are clearly not wanting to overpay.

With the 20% to Chelsea i'm thinking SP might let him run his contract down so we have him next season unless we receive a 'substantial' offer.

The other issue is if MG asks to leave. So far he's been the complete professional, but supposedly he is keen on Liverpool.
