Israel v Hamas

It's utterly pathetic. Sadly this is what i find that the "Palestine" upset folks often descend to because in reality they just don't have a clue about any of it.

Regarding "playground stuff", can we stop with the anti-Semite and Jew-hater slurs, which are thrown at posters in order to shut down reasoned debate you might not agree with ?
I am on the humanitarian side. What HAMAS did the previous October was outrageous and deserves retribution, but let's not pretend this was the start of such conflict.
50,000 civilians dead (guesstimated) and townships razed is hardly a reasonable and proportionate response against terrorists. In fact there seem to be no published numbers of terrorists killed or infrastructure destroyed. Just civilians dead in indiscriminate bombings and missile attacks, and hospitals and aid centres destroyed.

But sides are as entrenched on these boards, as representatives from armed groups are.
So the killing will continue and arms companies will prosper, and the Palestinians will be wiped out or relocated. Is dying from hunger any worse than dying by a bomb ?

"The head of an organisation set up to distribute aid in Gaza as part of a controversial Israel-backed plan has resigned, saying it could not work in a way that adhered to "humanitarian principles".
Jake Wood quit the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) late on Sunday, saying it would not be able to fulfil the principles of "humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence".
The plan, also backed by the US, envisions private contractors delivering aid to Palestinians via Israel-designated distribution sites. It was heavily criticised by the United Nations, which says it will not participate." (BBC website)

What would be a "reasonable and proportionate response"?

Israel’s actions in Gaza are a direct response to the unprecedented October 7th Hamas attack which killed over 1000 Israelis and took more than 250 hostages many still held captive.
This is part of a long conflict with Hamas who have repeatedly targeted Israeli civilians. Israel have a right to self defence. No other country would tolerate such a threat.

Those 50,000 civilian deaths you quoted are from Hamas controlled media sources.

There’s self defence and razing an entire area to the ground and deliberately starving a population. People can see what is happening and there’s enough eye witness accounts to know this has gone way, way beyond ‘self defence’.

That’s your opinion really. Others have different opinions! That’s the joy of a forum.

I find it interesting that you started this topic and are critical of Israel following the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Why is it you selected this particular conflict? Forgive us for at least giving it some thought that you might have a problem with Jews. Seeing as I can't find any thread on here about:

The devastating impact Saudi-led airstrikes have had on the Yemen population. It's one of the world's worst humanitarian crisis with over 400,000 deaths and millions displaced, with schools, hospitals etc destroyed by airstrikes;

Ethnic cleansing in Sudan against the Masalit and other non-Arab groups;

Ethnic cleansing in Myanmar with the Arakan Army attacking the Rohingya communities;

Ethnic cleansing in Ethiopia in the conflict between the Fano militia and Ethiopian federal forces;

Ethnic cleansing against Alawite communities by radical groups in Syria. Over 500,000 people have been killed in the Syrian civil war;

Ethnic cleansing in Mali with Malian attacking Fulani civilians;

Or any of the 50-70 disputed territories around the world and picked a side.

Now I don't doubt that you are well read and are well informed about global events. Just wondering why the Jews v radical Islam holds a particular interest?

If people can be comfortable with what’s going on out there that’s on their conscience.

I suggest you read the previous post from Penge before conscience is bought into the conversation.

There are plenty of things going on in the world I find unconscionable. Isreal in Gaza and Russia in Ukraine just two of them.

Also the ethnic cleansing of white farmers in South Africa.

It's definitely true that for most normies if something isn't presented to them on video then they just don't really think it happens and even if they know or are told they don't care.

It's only when they think others would think poorly of them that most take a position....usually aping the thoughts of their social bubble.

I can understand not caring about wars in far off places...horrible things happen all the time all over the world......problem is that this conflict and some others have been imported here.

I can see why, even if you cannot. Israel positions itself as a modern state and part of the western world. A world that tries to lead by example in the way it responds to others. A world that disapproves of atrocities everywhere.

When one of our own step out of line this badly they are going to get pilloried for it and deservedly so. It’s nothing whatsoever to do with them being Jewish. It’s solely the behaviour.

On October 8, 2023, just one day after Hamas' attack on Israel, hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators rallied in Times Square, waving Palestinian flags, chanting "Resistance is justified", "Globalize the Intifada", "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free", "By any means necessary", "Glory to our martyrs" etc.

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign targets Israel specifically and not others such as China or Russia.

The UN Human Rights Council has passed more resolutions against Israel than any other country.

The media amplifies the Gaza conflict more than any others.

Antisemitism and anti-Zionism doesn't exist, does it?

Israel is hated when they are not at war! Jews have been hated for thousands of years.

Marxists despise Israel because they hate Western values and democracy and view the world through the lens of: 1. Rich v poor; 2. Whites v brown; Powerful v weak.
