We don't actually know why he resigned? Ill health perhaps? I agree that 7 days after being elected is odd timing, did he know something before he was elected, or is it just bad luck that something has happened in his personal life in the last few days.What a loser

Some MPs have stood for election knowing that they were very ill and would be unable to carry out their duties. Oddly they aren't criticised and get plenty of sympathy.
If he has a good reason for stepping down, and this reason only came to light post his election victory, then I say respect the man. No doubt it will leak out.
