US Politics

What Musk highlights here is a harsh fact about most governments. Their systems are outdated and run by too many 'jobworths' and incompetents who don't care about efficiency and only care about picking up their wages at the end of the month.

If a private business doesn't run well it's far more likely to go out of business but when the taxpayer is picking up the tab people take advantage.

Talent like Musk has been a godsend for government......and governments around the world will be taking note.

They won't, because most governments are inefficient and 'wasteful' by design.

It makes us less competitive and the EU even less competitive than us. It whacks up the cost to suppliers, and ultimately to the consumer if passed on in full (which they will be in most low margin industries). No one wins.

Also amusing to see that protectionism and tariffs from the EU = bad. Mental protectionism and tariffs from Trump = GOOOOOOD.

The cult continues.
I am pleased to see that you agree that a 10% tariff on Britain makes us more competitive than those with 20% or higher.

Because it isn’t that simple.

Some tariffs are applied to balance government subsidies and create a level playing field. Some are applied to industries to ensure their local survival if their demise would threaten a strategic national interest.

Trump is using a sledgehammer in circumstances when the skills of a surgeon with a scalpel are needed.

On top of that he is conflating other taxes, like VAT, with tariffs, in the way he is presenting things to the American people. They are going to find out the hard way.
They do not have vat so it’s our decision and it’s a tax. It goes to hmg!
They still pay it.

You keep trying to pretend these tariffs are a good thing.

Glad to see your little snowflake hissy fit is over btw.
Not at all, where did I say that? I'm generally against the sort of protectionism and tariffs that the EU excel in.

My 'hissy fit'? I'm obliged to post here all the time am I? I'm a snowflake because I objected to what I saw as unreasonable treatment? You seem to think it ok to make personal remarks about me - isn't that supposed to be against the rules?

So what's the solution then? Enter into a trade war? Or do we get around the table like adults and work out a trade deal?

Or just continue to bitch moan and virtue signal and send insults?

I see you've taken your "bow down to the aggressor" approach that you have with Putin.

You must have had your lunch money nicked constantly and had a permanent wedgie at school.

I see you still do not provide your potential solution to the problem. Just more insults.

Says the guy who wimped out of an arms wrestle....even though I'm considerable older.

Smart decision by the way as I'd win quite easily.

Which is exactly the logic here.....taking on battles you can't win is stupidity.

The wise man knows when to fight and when not to fight.

Oh that was a serious offer was it? You do realise you are a grown man don't you.
