Chelsea FC want to offload Chilwell and several other first team players come the summer. We should bid for Chilwell as long as transfer fee and salary are not O.T.T

I argued the same up the thread and have not changed my view... except. How many players have we loaned from Chelsea over the years, got carried away thinking they love the club so much that they’d take a wage cut and sign permanently?
RLC, CG, NC… any more?
Do we really think Chilwell is going to do any different?
It made sense to sign him on loan as he fits the system better than Mitchell but he’ll go back in the summer.

The possible difference between Chilwell and the others you cite is age. They were much younger, needed blooding and were able to return, get a few Chelsea games and then a big fee to the Continent.
Chilwell is 28. Now at peak. Sell on value much diminished unless you sell now. But no takers.
There is a chance he will get good exposure in the next few moths (a Cup Final?) and then someone like Leipzig will make a decent pitch. However, if by window end he is still in the bargain bucket, we may get him on a good deal.
Perhaps I am just kidding myself.
Conversely as he is older he is probably more concerned about wages than developing and playing regularly. Taking at least a 50% pay cut is lot to ask of a player who is in his late 20s.I argued the same up the thread and have not changed my view... except.

And he can't have saved much on that pittance.Conversely as he is older he is probably more concerned about wages than developing and playing regularly. Taking at least a 50% pay cut is lot to ask of a player who is in his late 20s.
Then again everyone is wired differently and has different motivations.
Probably doesn’t even heat his pool for a month, much less pay for fuelling the yachtAnd he can't have saved much on that pittance.
I think he was at the Grand Prix recently, walking the track amongst the cars. They made him walk - cheapskates.Probably doesn’t even heat his pool for a month, much less pay for fuelling the yacht
...linked by people who hadn't yet cottoned on that Mitchell's extended contract doesn't expire until June 2027Interesting point about players ages.
When considering us loaning him, I’m starting to think it may actually have something to do with Mitchell, who in December was being linked with a free transfer to Barca and Athletico -which is bonkers, but none the less will have caught the players attention and been affecting his decision making as to whether he resigns with us.
Loaning Chilwell for 6months takes Mitchell out of the team and therefore big clubs in Europe will probably forget about him.
As much as Mitchell isn’t everyone’s dream left wing back, he’s still mid 20s, he’s solid and over the past 3 or 4 seasons has probably racked up more minutes than 95% of players in the league. If we can convince him to stay then we’ll be able to invest more in other areas of the team.
