Yes, they did. The new ownership brought the breaches to the attention of the league having find out about them after taking over. That was a big part of the lenient punishment they got.

I think if a new owner took over City tomorrow, the first thing they would do is put distance between themselves and the past owners, take a totally conciliatory approach, and beg for mercy.

None of that will happen, of course, because the City owners aren't going anywhere. They are balls deep now, and probably the only way out of the hole they are in is to keep digging. I expect an endless round of legal challenges and appeals and Christ knows what. They've got the money, and the necessary lack of shame.

This is part of what must be addressed with City. Even if they get a massive fine they will still view the whole thing as worthwhile. A business expense.

The only way a fine alone could work is if evidently comes from the clubs playing budget rather than it's wider, general budget and is so huge that it significantly undermines their ability to compete in the market for years.

Anything else they will just shrug off.

From what I've read the verdict is air tight & Man City are allowed one appeal???

Yes City are certainly allowed an appeal and with their legal team this will be tied up
for several years I would think. If we get a final decision by 2030 it will be a surprise

Its not clear to me. I've read one thing that says City have one right to appeal and it's all very tightly time bound, but another that says the appeal would take at least a year. Plus on top of that City could presumably go to CAS at the end of it. One of the things that is emerging is how astonishingly obstructive and shameless City are with these things. One of the hacked emails that started the whole thing was from City's in-house lawyer saying that the owner would 'rather spend £30 million on the 50 best lawyers in the world to sue UEFA for 10 years than accept a financial penalty or settlement' after City broke FFP rules.

It all seems a good example of how the very rich can abuse due process just through wealth alone. They tried to drag it all out for year after year to get past some sort of cut off point, they are happy to carry on that way. Shameless.

Plus by coughing up past misdeeds it allowed them to commit their own with impunity.

Buying and selling players to avoid instalment payment falling in current years numbers.
Multi Ownership club deals (including snaffling a previous manager for free).

CAS wouldn't look at whether the judgement was right or wrong only, like with our case, whether there were any technical grounds that affect the judgment or whether any evidence of unjust bias etc. I believe City could go to them on those narrow grounds if their one right of appeal elsewhere fails.

Yes, I expect all of that will happen. It's not like it's more likely that Man City will just carry on like nothing ever happened.

Appeal will be quick as its a PL process not the same as other legal processes. It cant go to CAS as its an internal rules system. The appeal is in effect an appeal to the same people who found them guilty so unlikely to succeed. City won appeal against UEFA on technicality due to statute of limitations which does not apply here. They are f***ed. Punishment will have to be servere if appeal fails along lines of Rangers and Juventus. Chelsea was lesser charges and the self reported and accepted guilt, City have done the opposite hence the 5 year process. If guilty, no matter the PL punishment, they will get sued by every club that has been in the EPL since 2010. My thoughts are the owners will run and let them go bankrupt to avoid billions in compensation court cases like Burnley vs Everton. City might also get done for fraud by the HMRC.
