Palace v Ipswich Match Thread

Sage cuts a fairly unemotional figure on the touchline, stroking his chin a la Roy, and not reacting to scoring or conceding.
His jack in the box assistant in contrast is a lively vociferous presence.
I will be interested to hear Sage's reaction as it was a patchy performance.

I'm not going to overreac, as with Sarr, Mateta and Henderson and 11 men we win that game comfortably .
Also, we only won 4 league games at home last season so we weren't exactly brilliant last season.

One concern is that I heard one of the fans behind me saying that Henderson had broken a foot.
Can anybody verify that as he would be a big miss?

f***'s sake. The bedwetters and entitled are out in force again.
Best defenders left.
Replacement got sent off.
Last season's top scorers on strike.
But it's Sage's fault.
You should go to some matches instead of slagging off on here.
Pathetic.
It's not all Sage's fault. Wharton yet to turn up, neither has Richards. Need more from Pino. All of them need to step up.

But the subbing off of JSL for a young American winger late in the game is utterly bizarre and needs condemning.

Don't get it just do not understand it.

12 weeks ago we didn't just win a major European Trophy to etch Crystal Palace FC into European folklore forever, we brushed aside some of Europes elite en-route with no one laying a clove on us.

Ask any European heavyweight. They haven't just heard of Palace FC now, they will fear Crystal Palace FC now. It doesn't matter whether you are Barcelona Real Madrid Bayurn Munich or AC Milan, no one will ever want to play a team who has just won a major European trophy. That is a fact and always will be.

Before you think my comment is crazy, just think for a moment. Remove Crystal Pal FC's name from the trophy and then tell any of the aforementioned heavyweights whether they want to be drawn against a team that has just won a major European trophy in their next Champions League fixture.

The answer will be a very firm NO thanks.

So there you have it. My point to be feared.

Just because 12-17 weeks ago, CP FC hadn't won anything, it doesn't mean you can still tar us with the same brush as before as you can't.

We ARE a CURRENT European CHAMPION.
ALONG WITH PSGG AND ASTON VILLA WE ARE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS as it stands and should be striking fear into anyone playing us now, along with PSG & ASTON.

I urge anyone to tell me I am wrong.

Therefore I do not understand why Ipswich FC think they have the divine right to turn up at our Fortress without the slightest smidgen of respect towards your European CHAMPION opponent today.

They disrespected us from the start, and so did their fans, from the first minute until the last with that childish song about them finding 3 points in the Premier League dustbin stadium. They mocked our team, our stadium, our fans and our European status.

That is why I do not understand what I have just witnessed.

Where did we go wrong?
Where did football go wrong?
Where did clubs stop paying respect to a champion, especially a European one.

We are constantly reminded that all levels of sport, especially professional, is supposed to be the epitome of respect.

I think the tractor boys who came into town today left theirs at home when their coaches departed Carrow Road this morning.

Awful club.
Awful players
Awful fans

Will enjoy reading the papers on Christmas Day seeing them bottom of the Premier League and staring down the barrel of relegation to Division 2 as our league has no place for clubs showing zero respect towards one of the top three European clubs as far as trophies goes this season.

I am not a bad loser. I was just raised Edee with respect
You earn respect ! If we had thumped then they might have hated us - but still probably respected us .We didn’t and they don’t - simple !

For context I watched on the TV. Thought we played well and seemed to lose our way following the equaliser where all but Mitchell had stepped out, however it looked as tight Daichi’s at Fulham last weekend.

For all the sage haters the attacking football is far better to watch. Defensively we look woeful although that did look better to a point today.

Lastly sage is having to drag a gassed JSL and replace with Gozo who imo is now 2 years behind Franca which is mind boggling following francas pre season form. Plus deal with being down to 10 for an hour because the loan that we bought in to replace £52 mill outgoing max did his best to break someone’s leg.

Surely sage would have left JSL on had he had anything left even if just for defending set plays.

All of the above sits with our board who I dare say sages mild manner suits because they couldn’t deal with OG’s demanding outspoken approach. Along with want away sarr and JPM again allowing the lack of ambition shown by the board!

Love this club but the change is needed upstairs not in the dugout!

Been out today, watching the highlights on Palace player.

VAR = Craig Pawson.

This c*** is a proper Palace hater and has been responsible for many an injustice. That was never on purpose, he went for a fair ball and pulled out. NEVER a red card, utterly disgusting decision that cost us the game.

Is Henderson injured?

While I normally agree with you Spindle I think the only decision that cost us the game today was Disasi going in for that tackle and our diabolical defending. I havnt watched the highlights yet so my thoughts may change 😅

He was absolutely blowing out of his arse! Gozo showed on Tuesday he can chase down lost causes. It wasn't a bad throw of the dice.

Not sure how much we can expect with a fat bloke in charge.

Fat people are, by definition, lazy.

What must the elite athletes who are Premier League players think of being ordered about by a bloke who would struggle to run for a bus and doesn't have the discipline or determination to sort out his diet and exercise?

How many successful fat football managers have there been in the modern age?

Never appoint a fat bloke.

The football is ok in patches, but we look shaky in defence and not creating enough chances. Hopefully Sage knows what he's doing.

Big sam was a good manager!

Only the 4th game in. I kind of feel any team can beat anyone these days in the Prem. Apart from Arsenal (and perhaps City) it's open range as to how the game/result will go.

It doesn't set a good example I agree. I'll give him until 10 games in before I make a proper judgement.

By giving the ball away every time? It was a bad throw because we lost. Managers are judged on results.

There is absolutely no doubt that the loss of key players has been the primary cause of our poor form, but that does not excuse poor management. Sage needs some things to right for him and soon. Parish with pull the plug if he thinks that there is a chance of relegation. He won't take any blame, that is for sure.
