Palace v Ipswich Match Thread

We get level so Sage takes off Larsen, our only goal threat and Wharton our best passer.

Why?

Why did he drop Canvot? Not even on the bench.

We could have got a point, or maybe even three, but stupid substitutions cost us.

Totally unacceptable performance all round.
Maybe, because he is an inexperienced, clueless, buffoon, and if anyone thinks he is half decent they are moronic

Parish won't want to pay PS off. So, it won't happen.
Well - it all depends what’s written in the contract.

I totally understand people want to give Sage more time, but at what point does the ‘good will’ run dry? Players don’t look happy, fans fuming and management looking ‘out of their depth’.

I’m in favour of Eddie Howe!

A bad game but they happen. Always going to be staring at a defeat playing with ten. Get all the rubbish out in one game. Some positives, we always look like we can score, even JSL is scoring. There is a good team there but they are not firing on all cylinders. They will given time. Its a long season. Wharton needs to find his radar. Teams passing in general still hit and miss. Still not worried though, but then I wasnt worried that season we lost the first 7. Its early days, we will be okay. My primary interest is the other competitions. Dasasi can play in Europe and rest at the weekend while he serves his ban.
If it was one game fair enough. In every single game Sage has managed us in we’ve been inept definitively as a team. Started in pre season and carried on today. No sign of any of it improving or any real plan. The selection, tactics and approach seem random.

Chucking your players under the bus also suggests remarkably naivety at this level.

There is a team who scores in there but one that is so open we keep losing. That shouldn’t be confused with a good team and our goal difference doesn’t lie

I quite like what I hear from Sage in interview but unfortunately it's not come across on the pitch. The Premiership is not a place for school playground tactics and players running around without any organisation. Lech Poznan next and then Leeds away. I don't envisage us getting anything from either game if it carries on like this.

Get Eddie Howe in
Quick
Give me one reason why he'd want the job. He's never wanted it before!

We're a shambles currently. As harsh as it might be, with teams like Hull picking up points at Chelsea, we can't afford to start falling behind early, so I think Sage could be gone by the international break.

Only way he stays beyond that is by beating Poznan (a draw isn't enough) and turning up against Leeds (a team we rarely do well against).

There is the lack of quality managers with decent Premiership experience, if we drag our arses we will miss out on anything half decent.

With Disasi, you can’t legislate for him lunging in like an absolute loon. That defence is so disjointed at the moment though.

I’d argue we’re typically French ironically - some real fluency and flair going forward at times, but the minute we’re forced onto the defensive, we look like we’re waving the white flag and surrendering.

No way should he have put Gozo on for Larsen.
I understand the point, but Larsen was literally on his knees.
After the sending off he was having to cover huge amounts of ground with no support.
I was sitting behind the bench and neither Kamada nor Larsen could hardly move when they came off.
With no Sarr, Nketiah or Mateta and with Guessand out of favour there was nobody else .
Gozo was clearly unsuitable for the role in terms of physical presence , but other than putting a midfielder up there I can't see an alternative today.

Don't get it just do not understand it.

12 weeks ago we didn't just win a major European Trophy to etch Crystal Palace FC into European folklore forever, we brushed aside some of Europes elite en-route with no one laying a clove on us.

Ask any European heavyweight. They haven't just heard of Palace FC now, they will fear Crystal Palace FC now. It doesn't matter whether you are Barcelona Real Madrid Bayurn Munich or AC Milan, no one will ever want to play a team who has just won a major European trophy. That is a fact and always will be.

Before you think my comment is crazy, just think for a moment. Remove Crystal Pal FC's name from the trophy and then tell any of the aforementioned heavyweights whether they want to be drawn against a team that has just won a major European trophy in their next Champions League fixture.

The answer will be a very firm NO thanks.

So there you have it. My point to be feared.

Just because 12-17 weeks ago, CP FC hadn't won anything, it doesn't mean you can still tar us with the same brush as before as you can't.

We ARE a CURRENT European CHAMPION.
ALONG WITH PSGG AND ASTON VILLA WE ARE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS as it stands and should be striking fear into anyone playing us now, along with PSG & ASTON.

I urge anyone to tell me I am wrong.

Therefore I do not understand why Ipswich FC think they have the divine right to turn up at our Fortress without the slightest smidgen of respect towards your European CHAMPION opponent today.

They disrespected us from the start, and so did their fans, from the first minute until the last with that childish song about them finding 3 points in the Premier League dustbin stadium. They mocked our team, our stadium, our fans and our European status.

That is why I do not understand what I have just witnessed.

Where did we go wrong?
Where did football go wrong?
Where did clubs stop paying respect to a champion, especially a European one.

We are constantly reminded that all levels of sport, especially professional, is supposed to be the epitome of respect.

I think the tractor boys who came into town today left theirs at home when their coaches departed Carrow Road this morning.

Awful club.
Awful players
Awful fans

Will enjoy reading the papers on Christmas Day seeing them bottom of the Premier League and staring down the barrel of relegation to Division 2 as our league has no place for clubs showing zero respect towards one of the top three European clubs as far as trophies goes this season.

I am not a bad loser. I was just raised Edee with respect.

Does no-one else think with two players feigning injuries - just because they are miffed. We could do with their quality on the pitch. Yet selfishly they’re only interested in themselves..!!

sure they do, however in your case its every week, last week was no different we have an awful defence and we ship goals that been happening for sometime now so the trend is there and its does not look good going forward!

I’m as bad a loser as they come.

But you’re spouting bollocks

I didn't see the game but get one thing straight - Sage is no Frank de Boer, and it looks like the Glasner out brigade haven't learnt their lesson. No sending off and the Khilaili miss goes in and it's a different result. Saw the City game and the defence was all over the place and we were lucky at Fulham, but calls for him to be out by the international break are ridiculous, with new players it takes time to get a defence to gel and fit in with the whole game plan. Sage seems a highly intelligent and grounded guy, Ariola flopped for the first ten games at Bournemouth, it can suddenly click and all change, but until it happens it seems like it never will.

If you wanted to save a point, then why put a player on who gives the ball away every time he has it?
A midfielder would have been better.

I don't accept that Larsen couldn't stay on. I assume he is saving him for Thursday since we appear to have no one else.

A total shambles.

We got done at Leeds on set pieces last year.
This time we face them without our most robust centre back in Disasi and unable to deal with crosses.
I'm not looking forward to this game.
