Doesn't seem to be one this year. They are awfully quiet if there is one.Yeah maybe a new TIFO too ? 😱

If it were a choice between staying up or guarenteed winning the Europa I would want to win the Europa league. More history made, champions league football (the only way we could ever qualify) and with that the ability to attract good players even when in the EFL. So hopefully promotion straight back.Mine, Staying up

a fortress is a castle that keeps all the baddies out. Our home is like Colditz........keeping our aspirations locked in.The Selhurst fortress?

You cannot make Mateta the captain if he is trying to escape. He would need to come out and explain his position to get the club and fans back completely sold on him. Whether right or wrong, it would need to be done.We won’t be top 5 or bottom 5 where we finish in between depends on not selling Sarr or Mateta and how good the manager is. I don’t see too many leaders in the team that’s one of the reasons we must keep Mateta. I would make him our captain.
Agreed. No offence to the OP, but Mateta as captain might be the worst take I've heard on here for a while. You cannot make Mateta the captain if he is trying to escape. And I could see us at 15, but as long as it isn't 18-20, it all works.

I'll be honest, I initially thought it was a joke as it didn't (and still doesn't) make sense to me but I thought if that was the direction, then at a minimum he would have to explain to the team and his fans why he wanted to leave.Agreed. No offence to the OP, but Mateta as captain might be the worst take I've heard on here for a while.
1) He wants to leave the club. No amount of spin or storytelling is going to disguise that. He basically tried to force a move away...we're not exactly a forgiving bunch, fans. And I can't believe players are either.
2) He's not captain material. He's the team joker / funny guy. Everyone loves that person...but they need to respect and follow them into battle. I wouldn't follow Mateta into battle after he laughs at missing a sitter.
3) Your captain needs to be really good at doing their job - to command the aforementioned respect. Mateta misses far too many chances. Just think about it. Jedinak, Milivojevic, Dann, Guehi, Mateta. One of these things is not like the other.
Just my take 🙂

The same West Ham that won the Conference Cup 2022/23? And then were relegated 2025? Hmm yes there might be a lesson there.its a curse when the big CL clubs want to buy your players. Its a worse curse when they don't.
Just ask West Ham.

Funny, I thought we were in trouble when Roy was manager, but he steered us to sub mid table obscurity every time. It's just a matter of priorities.I do sense a degree of unease amongst our supporters apropos our prospects this season.
Those that I know who are usually not over-freighted with negativity and who have excoriated me for my incessant 'Doomsaying' have brows corrugated by concern with positivity in short supply.

Mr Hodgson met his objective and whilst entertainment was somewhat scarce the ends justified the means.Funny, I thought we were in trouble when Roy was manager, but he steered us to sub mid table obscurity every time. It's just a matter of priorities.

Agreed.Mr Hodgson met his objective and whilst entertainment was somewhat scarce the ends justified the means.
Our highest position under him at the end of a season was 11th and I suspect many supporters would not be disappointed if we finish in this position at the end of the current campaign.

Correct, and although being a season ticket holder I managed to miss two of them 😩The Selhurst fortress?
I believe we won 4 home games in the league all of last season.
