True, and in comparing the career and wage aspirations of the average person to those of footballers, we can forget there is such a thing as greed, and a person already having enough money.
Where I have far more sympathy with modern players who want to leave clubs like Palace is that their 'pure' ambitions, like challenging for the title, competing in the latter stages of the champions league, and showing they belong alongside and against the very best, can only be met by moving. You just can't do those things at Palace.
I don't think there is any equivalent to that in most other walks of life.
