Having just read that he had kids, then yes this suicide is totally and utterly selfish. He's irreparably messed up his kids lives because he couldn't take the flak of his reputation being ruined. Imagine that, knowing your Dad places the thoughts and opinions of other people over his supposed love for you as his child.
I'd go as far to say that all suicide is selfish and cowardly if there are family or dependents, as all the person is doing is passing on their pain and suffering to them. It's weak and cruel.

Then I commented without knowing his history and condition. I needed my wife to put me right.
He was non verbal till 11. Could not read and write till 18. And he was autistic. To get where he was is miraculous.
One symptom of autism is mirroring. My nephew is autistic and he waits for others to laugh for his cue. Children find the popular child in class and copy them as a conforming mechanism. Similarly, as an autistic person, it is symptomatic to assess others credentials and copy them. This is not to succeed. It is to conform.
Given the media attack and millions of hate messages received by an autistic person from strangers his suicide is not surprising.

You know that this has been claimed as a lie but not proven.
He. claims to have been diagnosed with autism at 3. That will be in his medical records.
If they have an enquiry this will out.
Otherwise it will just be claim versus counterclaim.

i sure there are many suicides from honest students (& graduates) who tried to play fair. Who tried to climb the greasy pole the honest way.....and often failed to do so. Meanwhile seeing cheats & charlatans being successful.

His former primary school classmates and next door neighbours have come forward, saying it's not true.

Could have been masked. Again (perhaps conveniently) that is a symptom and may not have been identified then.
Like I also said, if his medical records confirm autism, then it is true. If they do not, then it is lie. This is what happens when you use words like "diagnosed". There is a paper trail.
Btw, I have readily admitted I am flip-flopping as the facts are currently uncertain. However, most who have posted on here have made their minds up before the facts.
How can you mask being non-verbal? You either are or you aren't surely?...and there are several witnesses saying he was a normal chatty kid.
Objectively speaking, I think the chances of the proven liar being correct over several independent witnesses with nothing to gain are near zero.

If everything he has claimed was true, both academic record and personal achievements, then why the heck did he resign his prestigious and lucrative position at Cambridge Uni and cancel his high profile autobiography book tour ?
He had already employed the services of a pugnacious law firm to close down scrutiny and examination of his alleged plagiarism and complaints to police. He could have sat this one out and weathered the flak with the help of his lawyers, then cleaned up for defamation against multiple news outlets and academic Nathan Cofnas.
That's not an unprecedented course of events. I am thinking of Christopher Jefferies in the sad case of the murder of Jo Yates who was vilified by the press but proven to have nothing whatsoever to do with her death and then sued several news outlets and won substantial damages for destroying his good reputation. Why didn't Arday confer with his advisors and come out, guns blazin' ? It would have solidified his arguments of racism in academia?
