Prof Jason Arday

I worked with a complete charlatan of a geotechnical engineer in the early 2000's.
When I drew his poor working practices to the attention of the MD, I was told to mentor him. The guy was on a big wedge, as big as mine. And I should be teaching him how to do his job ? His CV was full of bullsheet. I left the company shortly afterwards, but I've checked some of the charlatans details online, and he's posted a complete fabrication of his achievements and positions in companies. I have no idea who he works for now.
And I've seen it done elsewhere. They get found out eventually, and the fall from grace can be dramatic.

And it had nothing to be with skin colour. Except in Arday's case he weaponised his skin colour to protect himself. Like has been done many times before

I suspect roles like airline pilots, especially commerical and so on, would be pretty immune from this kind of BS, primarily down to insurance requirements. A jet line goes down due to a DEI hire error and the compensation payouts would be astronomical.

In terms of the medicial stuff, then the bigger issue is more around foreign doctors blagging qualifications in their home nations then winging it over here. Plenty of stories of that all around.

But in spaces such as Academia, NGO's, local authorities and so on? Rammed full of people elevated to positions of power based on how good their photo looks on promotional literature rather than ability.
It was happening with US airlines until they were directed to stop.

every workplace has some overpaid under-qualified clowns. And its always a mystery who they sucked-off to get the big money jobs.
Meritocracy only happens on the football pitch.

I believe your story FB. I would add my own stories of managing a team and being told "here is a new clown, joining your team, they will be working on the abc project. Now go and manage them"......them being utterly devoid of any redeeming features, lazy, bad attitude and often paid more than the talent. It happens in every work-place. To learn to ignore it is part of your job.

Meritocracy should be the aim....but we know what the reality is in the real world, people pleasing has always been important.

Brown nosing works with most managers, as everybody likes to be liked. Depending upon the manager the results you produce can be secondary.

I don't even blame those that do it, some of them actually like their manager(s), which makes it valid....someone can be likable and a manager...it can happen. 😀 Hell, and others understand what they are doing is necessary, which is also valid.

The only annoying people are those that pretend that it isn't what it is. We all know it when we see it.

Obviously someone promoting someone because it's their mate or family isn't a purely meritocratic action....then again it's also very common human behaviour....Even when it isn't that, managers tend to promote in their own image.

Then there's the obvious ethnic nepotism, family members or your race. To be honest this is sometimes a trust thing and I find it hard to criticise an Indian restaurant having Indian staff.....But we all know when it gets out of hand.

As for good looking birds.....We don't even have to comment on the obvious human nature aspect of that.

Then there are the DEI incentives for managers to not stand out as different from the cultural and legal dawn chorus.....even if they know it's b0llocks and harms the business.

I have worked with a couple of black peeps who have been really good at their jobs. One who worked on flood risk was the best, practically the only person you could have a sensible conversation with.
I wonder if she and other deserving people will now be unfairly under suspicion as 'DEI hires'?

It's an argument that is not being made. Jason Ardley harmed black people and their reputations; so did Cambridge Uni, so do the SUTR vigils.

This guy nails it

I can think of a few players who have stolen a living over the years. You do wonder if they play because they have the negatives. 😀

Professional football is the only industry I can think of where there has been evidence of DEI being applied in reverse. Remember the French FA getting caught out? Insisting the manager play Deschamps so there was at least one white man on the team.

When does Twitter ban this guy? I would out an laugh emoji here but it's not funny he may well end up on the blacklist.

as i said above. Football is the closest thing we can get to a real Meritocracy. However, even then its imperfect. The 1960's was racist and black players didnt get much of a look in. Rangers/Celtic used to have longstanding reluctance to employ Catholics/Protestants respectively.

Then you get the Saddam Hussein type dictators that fill their national side with their nephews & buddies.

Football is more transparent than most other employments. Controversy seems to follow some well-paid individuals wherever they go.

Yep, even when I disagree with this guy I respect him because I can tell he's coming from a genuine position of believing in the west.

here below is a UK drama where the straight white bloke replaces toilets for a living. Senior job titles seem to go to everybody else.

Are there now many roles wherein being a straight-white-man is seen as a disadvantage ?* But not replacing toilets, which is a pure and open meritocracy. I would suggest the TV historian is no longer the domain of the Kenneth Clarke/Neil Oliver types - statistically speaking.

Is the Public Sector is a cold house for the straight white British man ? Or TFL ? any other places ? not being a straight white british man myself, i have the bravery to ask, and i would be curious to know your opinions.

'Believing in the west' covers a lot of bases.

If it's the values of freedom, decency, equality of opportunty and integrity - founded on the original values of the Christian church, then great. This is the 'western values' that Charlie Kirk and Jordan Peterson believe in. Sign me up

But unfortunately, 'the West' increasingly represents something much darker. An establishment that protects the Epstein class, while persecuting its own people. A 'west' where speaking an opinion, or even the truth, has become dangerous. A 'west' that does not know what a woman is, just that anyone can become one. A 'west' that spills the blood of Ukranians to test its new advanced weopons systems in a live scenario. A West ruled by peadoes and predators. I am not sure how anyone can believe in this 'west'.

Other notable liars include Rachel Reeves, who embellished her CV, from Bank clerk, to Senior Manager,..then onto running and destroying the UK economy.
And a Housing 'minister caught in a property Tax avoidance scam.

I didn't know Arday had kids. The stuff I read said he was gay. And it's now getting to the point where you don't know what is true about him.
I have a sneaking admiration for the way he played the academics and media. Even from the mid 1990's, Academic places were using software on students submissions in order to catch instances of plagiarism. So I am confused that if Arday plagiarised, it was a relatively easy spot. Unless that's why he played the race-card.

If he'd have stuck around , I think he would have quite a windfall from media outlets, interviews and on the speaking circuit. The trouble with his fabrications, is that he probably had to immerse himself in the lies to the extent he had to believe them himself to give credibility. And like a shoplifter who initially gets away with a tin of beans, he kept going back for more and more.

Still, you can't help but give him some respect, if only for scoring 'that goal' , winning us the FA cup. 😀 👍

One could be forgiven for pretending to be gay, in the workplace. Whether it is true or not. Who is going to question you ? I certainly would myself if i was employed at the BBC. Maybe wave a Palestine flag too & the pride flag....wave them all with pride.

We all wear masks to get along. Jason Arday did.

It may have been easy to spot, in this case the editor received a notice from Carter Ruck.
