Reform

This is entirely reasonable and likely closer to the truth. The fact they need to wildly over-exaggerate it to fuel their ‘everyone against us’ narrative does them no favours.
It's clearly not a 'narrative'. Its obviously true.

Reform proposes £50bn welfare bill cut with changes to disability payments for millions

Can't say I disagree with any of that and I think it will resonate with a lot of voters. Welfare benefits should'nt be a lifestyle option and neither should hard working people have to pay for those who choose not too.

There will be unintended nasty consequences of such a policy.

They will be carefully explained to them if in power.

The policy will be implemented in a severely diluted form to avoid them.

It will be marketed as full implementation.

But will make limited savings.

It's sad but, as others have said. If it could be done it would have been.

Note, no intention of changing the unearned triple lock privilege enjoyed by the inexorably expanding (and Reform voting) pension population.

It's time to pay a portion of welfare in coupons not cash, these cannot be used for alcohol, cigarettes, lottery tickets etc etc.
There's research to say that crime rates increase if those on benefits can't afford some luxury, so to that extent I'd give them an Oddbins/William Hill voucher for a few quid each month. But the rest ought to be luncheon vouchers and pre-paid bills. Enough for them to go "this isn't quite the life I wanted, I'll see whether I could do a bit of paid work"

Insightful and useful input to the discussion, thanks. Presumably as you live in Gaza you can't get GB news and the water in your toilet is of low quality because your Hamas mates used the charity donations for infrastructure to fund the war machine.
The fact that you've looked at my profile and taken it at face value is conclusive proof that you'll swallow any old bollocks and believe it. You're the ideal GB News consumer.

No more questions, m'lud.

People who are on benefits have the opportunity to retrain / upskill or simply get a job. If you are retired and rely on the state pension what are you expected to do? Your options are far more limited than those of a working age.

I don't disagree with some of this.

But someone's got to try something.....I mean, I know it won't work....but for feck's sake, someone's got to try at least.

I've been predicting the economic collapse for years, but you can't just let it happen without trying something. It's why I never criticised Truss heavily....At least she was going for growth, but the city wasn't having it.

The true bosses of this country are the big movers in the markets.

The left are insane, just as the woke Tories were before them. The cloth has to be cut to fit.

The country is going bankrupt and their 'flood the workforce with young foreign males' immigration policy which those twats in the home office came up with is beyond stupid as a solution.

Everyone knows the triple lock goes....it's going to be pain for everybody.....but no one's going into an election saying that.

Yes, that's immoral, but we are bankrupt.

I was going to start picking you up on a few things but I’m glad you realise this. I think a lot of people don’t even realise what it even means yet alone how unsustainable it is. I don’t think many would complain if it just became inflation locked only.

Our tax thresholds have certainly been locked and look like they will be for the foreseeable unless some other levers are pulled.

Why rhe defeatist attitude ?

Whatever the policy they'll be "winners and losers". There's already nasty consequences being endured by those with the burden of paying for the lazy snd workshy.
If the will is there to make this happen, it will do so.
