How do fans see next season unfolding.

A new manager, Andoni Iraola is now 4/9 on with the bookies.
with Andoni as manager ...... pretty good. For this Eagle 'pretty good' = finishing between 16th and 9th in the table. But we still need to overhaul our 'new player recruitment' formula. Again, i am sure we will lose another 3 or 4 of our best players - which is acceptable for any club below the final 16 of the Champions League - provided the money is good. I have always said we need a 'conveyor belt of Zaha's' to compete in this challenging economic model.

If Parish gets it wrong, we will drop like a stone down the table. And With or Without the Europa League are two different Worlds. Hopefully we win at Leipzig.....which will bring some nice new nightmare problems for us.

Excuse my fence sitting, but I find it impossible to say until the outcome in Leipzig is known. Two completely different paths await depending on that game...

100%

Path 1 - Win in Leipzig
Prem survival and push for a deep in Europe as possible

Path 2 - Lose in Leipzig
Aiming for top half in league and have a real go in one of the domestic cups

Regardless of the result in the final, I expect us to finish higher in the league next season. Although if we do win the final, only a little higher in the league as we will again have fixture congestion and the welcome distraction of Europa.

So with Europa football, 2 or 3 places higher domestically. Hopefully at least pass the first fixture of the cup next time out, too.

Without Europa, we should be looking firmly mid-table as a minimum. 12th or better, as a minimum.

If Iraola is indeed the man, that is good news for us. He would continue to grow our current players, as he has done in Dorset, and attract names to supplement them, again as he has done in Dorset.

Iraola aside at the moment if feels as though any success next season depends on Sarr staying. Of course whoever comes in may have some viable alternatives but with JPM still likely to go Sarr is key.
Only Steve knows what the budget will be but we need a few players out of it and proven goalscorers tend to be expensive.

We really need Larsen and Johnson to make a massive improvement under whoever the new manager is, Mateta and Muñoz i expect to be sold, maybe even Nketiah will stay fit and form a duo with Larsen and both get 20+ goals each, or maybe not, Larsen, Johnson and Nketiah for the same money we got for Eze and Olise, 😳

10 each might be a challenge but we can hope.

A lot of decisions on players this summer in midfield. We have to keep Wharton, Kamada likely to leave, with Hughes and Lerma no longer acceptable in midfield, too old and lack any creativity. Doucoure to come back, but will he be the same as his first season, nobody knows.
Therefore at least 2 new midfielders needed that can start right away.

i would also add that we need to see normal service to be restored. i.e. us constantly above the Seaweed in whatever table, yea until the crack of Doom.

The start we had this season, made it a lot safer, near the end of this season.
I think we will probably be weaker next season , as the players players that have come in, have less quality than the players that have left/will leave.
Although the improvement in Mitchell as a wing back has been massive this season, a lot more action down his side than Munoz wing v Everton.
Although the fact that only one promoted team (from last season’s championship) is going down, should mean there’s less quality at the bottom of the table. The 3 that go up plus Sunderland/leeds (second season syndrome) should all be in the mix.
If we go far in the euro league I think we will struggle , if we lose in Leipzig I think we will
be fine.
Obviously depends on who comes in as manager.

The key thing will be the new manager and also whether he can hit the ground running and get squad buy in.
A good manager can get more than expected from available resources through shrewd organisation and motivational skills.

Iraola may be the bookies favourites but in third place it's De Zerbi. Fourth place is Cesc Fabregas!
In other words they don't have a flogging clue, so I'll be waiting with bated breath to see it for myself if and when he comes.

Definitely. Win in Germany and we'll be managing another European campaign. Not winning will mean a standard domestic season. Two very different situations on every level from recruitment to fixture congestion to who needs to be sold to who we are able to bring in. The possible outcomes are at this stage way too unpredictable

I’m with you Tom, get this season out of the way, see whether we’re in Europe or not and see who our new gaffer is and how quickly we get him in place.

If we win the Conference final then same struggles as this season in league and cups. Again, we won’t have a squad to keep us high in the league and play Thursday’s and weekends. Hopefully the three promoted clubs will not be strong enough to survive?

My great concern is that we've surely spent so much on Larsen, Johnson, and Pino that there can't be much left in the pot.

I still find it highly unlikely that Iraola will come to us, but if he does then quite a few changes to the squad will be required in order for his approach to work. I can't see that happening without the sale of at least two of the current crown jewels. Wharton and perhaps La Croix, or even Sarr (God forbid) would raise the thick end of £100m, which might be what is needed to overhaul our midfield and wings to play how Iraola prefers. Our current lot just don't have the legs for his way.

If we don't get Iraola, and perhaps go for a continuity appointment (either from within, or an external appointment who wants to play a conservative 343 like Glasner has) we will perhaps need less of an overhaul. The goalie and back five, plus Wharton, can just continue. Sarr too. That's eight players. Larsen surely we'll be our no9 as he cost almost as much as the new stand. We'd need a replacement for Kamada, plus ideally an excellent attacking creator (I just can't see Pino ever being up to it in the premier league). That's only two needed for a decent first choice XI. Of course, squad depth is another matter, but when have we ever really had it anyway?
