Crystal Palace vs Leeds match thread

Just go now Glasner.
2 more points droppped at home against another poor team because we cannot defeat a low block again - in fairness we have been spoiled with Zaha, Olise & Eze, but Johnson & Pino as replacements ???
Why in Gods name take off SL and replace him with a bloke who openly doesn’t want to play for us ?? If he has to play, play both !!
Kamada ?? Just go.
Hughes starting instead of Wharton ? Yet another yellow card & this time nearly highly costly.
Thank God we got good results pre-Christmas !!
Will be departures in the summer but whoever is coming in will have to manage the transition well or it could well be a struggle next season even with the teams coming up.

A couple of months ago I wrote that I thought that next season would be a battle against relegation. We haven't spent wisely, overloading some positions and neglecting others, and unless the new manager is up to the task and can bring some enthusiasm and guile to what looks like a subdued squad, the I think we will struggle.

Only just got in from the game, and haven’t read any of the thread but wanted to vent my frustration again!
The football feels like it did towards the end of the Hodgson spell. I no longer recognise what we are trying to do or how we are going about it. I am sure it has all been said already but we show no urgency, cohesion or any sort of plan. OG idea of a plan is to just throw players on and hope for the best.
This is now the second time we have played against a team of 10 players for at least a half of football and didn’t create a single half effort on target.
The goal was always going to be offside because the players are too bloody lazy to put a shift in to get back onside or are just too thick to understand the basics.
OG insists on his back 3 with the threat coming from the wingbacks no matter who we play or the circumstances of the game and it isn’t working.
So after 2 four hour round trips in the space of 4 days I am simply f#cked off with it and can not wait for this season to be over.

Im at the end of my tether with this season. I can't believe how bad we are. I also dont really know what to say anymore. Im not going again this season, so much money spent, travel money and time effort for this.

It’s counter intuitive I know but just do what I’ve done which is refuse to go until Glasner is gone.

I don't quite know why Glasner doesn't understand the concept of a balanced midfield. One creative player with one solid player. If you look back through the years, it really does work quite well. Instead of what is quite clearly the best option in Wharton and Hughes, it's always Wharton and Kamada, giving us no bite, or Hughes and Lerma, giving us limited creativity. Strange.

Bigger picture, that was a tough, tough watch. I'm already looking forward to next season, to be honest. A fresh approach, fresh face. Let's go.

I too feel similar... But at the same time I feel the league in general is very banal at the moment. Arsenal are boring their way to the title and the only other bit of 'excitement' in the league is watching 'Big Club' Spurs mess things up.

This weekend the whole round of fixtures were extremely dull.

Hopefully we can get through on Thursday and then we've got a month off to recharge...I mean us fans as much as the players need a break!

Just about the worst game of football in EPL this season, we are terrible, clueless, defence looks shaky, can't pass the ball, far too slow going forward, poor crossing, not one shot on target against 10 men. Thank goodness we have 39points in the bank, otherwise we would be dead certs for the drop.
No we have 39 points. Season is drawing to a close

I did that towards the end of the Hodgson reign, but I want to support the team and I also hate waisting money in not using the season ticket. Although if I take the saving in petrol costs into account it might be worth it. 😏

we havent got a creative player and like most teams we have work horses who some times do a good pass

A repeat of which we have witnessed.Akin to a gramophone record stuck in the groove.
Ponderous, not moving the ball quick enough, not creating overloads, not engineering 1 v situations.
No thrust down the flank on the left, ball is passed sideways and crosses delivered from more central positions favouring a packed defence.
Run out of ideas.
Leeds reduced to 10 men but Darlow was largely untroubled.
Quite why Mateta was introduced at the expense of JSL is beyond my comprehension.
And YES I bellowed out a 'BOO' at the end.
Us supporters have only witnessed 6 wins at home in 23 games. 😡

I would say Wharton is a creative player. Just perhaps in a game like today and last Thursday we could have Hughes and Lerma alongside him to give him the freedom required? I guess that means Glasner would have to change the formation, so we can’t be having that ;-)

Only 8 games to go in the league this season, and looking at the opposition I can't see us picking up many more points given the way we played today. One of these games is Wet Spam at home. Other than this, there's Larnaca next Thursday. All in all it's been a damp squib of a season where initial promise has been frittered away by poor decision making in the transfer market and questionable professionalism from the manager. In hindsight it is not so difficult to see where it went wrong. The question is what has been learnt? Next season will be a struggle I think.

Were you booing the error prone ref?

I do not envisage us winning any of the remaining PL games.

shame the six nations is over, the prem ain't that great which is why our teams are getting found out in Europe, we played like we were wearing blindfolds
This is now the problem with the Premier League in general. Clubs now have so many coaches for defence, attack, set pieces, etc, a team of analysis working out how other teams play and how to combat their style.
Palace fall into the category of having a manager, who surprised teams with the style of play for one season, but struggle in the second season as we have been worked out. The problem Glasner has is he cant adapt, thats why he has a history of only staying 2 seasons at clubs and moves on. Top managers can change things to surprise teams, another example is Slot at Liverpool, a one season wonder like Glasner.
