AEK Larnaca Predictions.

If we learn from the previous encounter and move the ball quicker I can only see a Palace win but for some reason in Europe so far we dont really seem to be learning very quickly.
Even in the last game we struggled when we were in front.

I'm pinning my hopes on us getting better as the tournament goes on and the opposition being a bit more ambitious (which suits our game)

You don't want to peak too soon - ask the South African cricket team. We need to come through quietly on the rails and win by a nose.

Who writes this stuff? The 'get to know' Crystal Palace ' section speaks warmly of Millwall. Oh, wait UEFA wrote it.

Unsure if it’s been edited, did it previously go on more about Millwall?

Current blurb

From Croydon, south London, Crystal Palace are (along with Millwall) one of only two London sides from south of the River Thames to play in Europe. Founded in 1905, Palace were named after a spectacular iron and glass exhibition centre that stood from 1851 to 1936. This is only their second season in Europe; they previously played in the 1998 UEFA Intertoto Cup.

Just a brief mention in the context that they are the other of just two South of the River clubs to play in Europe. I wouldn’t say it’s terribly warm about Millwall or focused on them.

Could be read as a slight on Charlton instead. Or even Wimbledon. I chose to think so 😂

Well we are a Surrey side like Wimbledon Charlton and arsenal are kent sides west spam are essex Spuds are middlesex hehe Arsenal become a South London club before moving to north I do enjoy pointing that out to arsenal fans that they are nomads 🤣

For some reason, I think Palace will give a good account of themselves. I reckon there might be a few AEL Larnaca players wondering whether to stay in Croydon after the game as things are heating up around the Gulf.
One look at Thornton Heath should send them running for the airport

2-0 Palace win

Like it or not the 1960s happened 😂 I don’t think we have a single thing in common with anywhere in Surrey.

They’re countryside poshos, we’re outer-city oiks. Apart from Shirley maybe.

Shirley was great 50 years ago. Millers pond was a favourite. Now it’s got such s*** areas like shrublands.

I don’t really think of Shrublands as being part of Shirley to be honest, it’s pretty much it’s own thing isolated from anywhere. It’s kind of like Addington’s conjoined twin that’s just a head.

It's going tobe a tough game to play and watch, weather is going to play a big part like last time , 2nd leg will be raining drones lol but if we get a 3-0 result at home that would be terrific but think 2-0 is acceptable, unless the weather changes for the better

I feel if we can get an early goal and stay vigilant to their counter it could be an easy night.

we know the drill AEK 11 man defence hope to catch us on the break nick away goal. we have keep it moving
Like last time, they will be time wasting from the outset. Drying the ball under their shirt for every throw in, their keeper getting ready then changing sides for every goal kick and so on. I think even more so this time as it is not a knockout out game whereby they would have to be more adventurous if they fall behind. I suspect they would happily take a 1-0 and hope to catch us out in Larnaca.

Hopefully, we will have learnt from last time. I think JSL might make a difference and hope that our defenders will be more focused.

I am going to predict an early goal and a 2-0 Palace win.

By the way, they got rid of their manager at the beginning of the month, so it’s not Imanol who we faced in the league stage. Seems a strange one, all I’ve heard he was doing well. But anyway this might have an impact and they might not be the same side going into this game.

A lesser team can secure an unexpected victory in a single match as we have already experienced with Larnaca.
It is highly unlikely that such teams can emerge victorious over 2 legs.
I suspect that Larnaca's plan will to defend in a 'Low block', displaying scant ambition and even if they return home beaten by the odd goal they will view such a result favourably.
I fully expect us to progress to the next round.

Not an easy one to predict. Oh for an early(ish) nerve settler but the longer it goes, the more that frustration will obviously creep in. Maybe we could also progress with a 0-0 and rely upon away form. Let's try to be positive and sneak a 1-0 with 80% possession.
