To me there is a fundamental flaw in starting this war.....which is essentially about regime change for Israel/US.
That flaw is that you can't change a regime by Navel and Air power. As someone pointed out the US can spend tens of millions destroying buildings and troop concentrations where they are foolish enough to gather, but ultimately at the end of all this bombing you are still going to have 150, 000 armed Iranian revolutionary guard most of whom will have known or know of someone killed during this.
I'm not seeing how the population is going to 'rise up' against that. Some might argue that the time to support an uprising was weeks ago, but instead the Iranian state killed an estimated thirty thousand while the Americans made positive noises.....You might find the population reluctant to come out again in the necessary numbers.
So from my view, I'm not seeing this war as a productive step forward. I know they want to create another Syria or Libya and have a weak distracted failed state instead of the Mullahs, but I'm not so sure that happens in Iran......I think a war emboldens them in terms of friend/enemy against the west. So while weakened I'm not seeing this producing a friendly state.....It's a lot of squeeze for not a lot of juice.
You would have to ensure regime change to a pro western movement and I think that's very unrealistic in Iran now because that would require many many troops on the ground.
I guess I hope I'm wrong but that's how I see it.
