Romaine Esse

Stop being anti everyone that says everything different to what you say , and no they haven't , they had a good run before to get them top ,
since the start of december up until esse first league game they had won 2 out of 7 games in the league. Sounds like good form to you mate? A bit of research never does anyone any harm😂

Coventry in lge before Esse was 2 3 2 they only lost 2 before he joined , its now 2 1 3 , its not just Esse fault all the players form have dipped in last 4 games , but fans highlight the to many flicks when a easy pass would be better , when results don't go there way they see the failed ones more than the successful ones because it didn't bring a goal ,
so there form was good before he joined , as a team they need to do the simple things to get some form back , for them and Esse

They have been slipping for a long time before Esse came stop being disingenuous
Thats not true. Their drop in form did not come until after Esse joined them. No one is saying Coventy's slump is Esse's fault but it would be lying to say they were dropping before he joined them. They weren't.

In what world is winning 2 out of your last 7 games considered good form?
November they played 5 games and won all 5.
December they played 6 games and won won 2, drew 2, lost 2
So thats 11 games, 7 wins, 2 draws, 2 loses in the 2 months leading up to them signing Esse on loan. You think thats poor form? 1.9 points per game? Really?
🤣

Tonight's Coventry v Middlesbrough game on tv should provide an opportunity to compare and contrast who we bought (Esse) and who we should have bought (Hackney).
They play in different positions, but I know who I'd prefer at Palace.
Hackney is a dynamic attacking midfield player with good energy, good skills and an eye for goal.
He'll be playing at Premier League level next season whether at Middlesbrough or elsewhere.

Hackney joined the club at U10 level and is Middlesbrough through and through.
He is rated in the upper echelons of players in the Championship.
I agree he will be at a PL club next season.

I think we have to remember Esse is 20, Hackney is 23, 3 years is a massive time when a Player is developing, he has a long contract, he is not the finished article, but lets see what a full preseason with a decent manager will do, it may make a big difference, but lets give him a chance, Ian Wright didnt play his first game until he was nearly 22, and he was rubbish for 6 months.

I think is fair taking into account that players develop at different rates.

Nonetheless, I don't see him getting in ahead of Sarr, Johnson, Pino and potentially Guessand.
Depending upon how he gets on at Coventry another loan next season may seem the way forward.

I've been watching football a long time and have seen nothing to date that indicates to me that Esse will be a top player, but have been wrong before.
Clearly Glasner isn't the right coach for him, but he's not pulling up any trees under the supportive Lampard either.

We were in the old 'Second Division' when Ian Wright was introduced into the fray.
Had we been in the old 'First Division' it is feasible that he would have been loaned out to a club lower down the pyramid, just like Esse.

I dont really think that is feasible. Different times. Back then most teams relied on a strong first 11 with maybe 3 or 4 strong players on the bench. It wasn't the squad game it is today. Couple that with Palace being much poorer back then and living hand to mouth they would not have signed Wright unless they could see him intergrating quickly into the first team. They simply couldn't afford to buy players and send them out on loan. Being in the old First Division as opposed to being a top half Second division team would have made little difference. Pre Sky Sports the financial difference between the two divisions was just gate receipts and sponsorship. Nothing more.

I understand your comments on this matter.
The message I was trying to convey was that had we been in the old 'First Division', Ian Wright might never have had the opportunity to progress as a footballer, as it did in the lower reaches, and his career might have taken a different direction. Being thrust into the top-flight might have been too challenging for him.The rest as they say is history !
