Mateta

OG confirmed No surgery and 3 maybe 4 weeks out.

He’s staying and if he does give 100% as OG asserts he will- I will support him fully until the end of the season.

I think we will need him firing on all cylinders if we are to go deep in Conference League.
OG actually said they cant put a time on it, hopefully 3 maybe 4 weeks depending how it responds (to the treatment that has been recommended).

Its about dignity and manner, Guehi-Correct, Mateta-Disgraceful
I actually agree, I’m just pragmatic about a (potentially) £30m asset. I’d potentially play Guessand, Nketiah or Uche in front of him too… but only if I think they’ll do better in that game.

Glasner has created a system around him though, and JSL is more similar to him than those others. If Glasner gets that system and him firing again I just won’t be disappointed, I quite like Palace winning tbh.

Sounded like an easy get out to leave him out for as long as they see fit.

If and it is an if, he caused dressing room disruption we don’t really want him back or need him back with the players we now have. Sarr, Guessand and of course Nketiah can all play up top if Larsen gets injured or isn’t performing.

This could have all gone very wrong for JP.

Re his knee, all sounded very grey. Not often you get a group of specialists/doctors all together giving a considered group opinion, which is how it sounded.
Really hope, however. that rest and rehab gets him back to full strength again. Knees can be tricky things as we have seen with a number of our players in recent years.

does make you wonder why Milan's specialists all came the the conclusion that he may need surgery, then a week later all of our ones say he doesn't. I just hope that all of these experts are joined up and are correct. It would be a shame for him if he doesn't get the treatment he needs and screws up the rest of his career. Either way, he's getting a good rest, and the only way to convince people will be to get back into the team and start scoring goals. That benefits everyone

Yes, i can see your point.

Im not sure this is the case. One surgeon is reported to have recommended surgery. The others advised against buying him at this time. Mateta had surgery for a torn meniscus in 2019 and was out for 6 months. If as is being reported this is the same issue, then surgery to either repair his torn meniscus or remove part of it is an option but is not guaranteed to fix the issue to the extent that he can play football without further problems. Rest and physiotherapy is also an option and has been shown to be effective.
In one research study half the patients underwent repair through an arthroscope while the other half had a sham operation with no repair done. All were told their torn meniscus had been repaired. They all then had rehabilitation. At follow up there was no difference in outcome between the two groups.
Surgery for meniscus tears is not a panacea. If the knee is locking or unstable then yes it’s the way to go, but if you can play football for 90 minutes twice a week and kick a corner flag once in a blue moon then it’s debatable whether surgery is recommended.
You could argue that he should have been rested earlier in the season to see if things settled but he was clearly happy to play and the club didn’t have an alternative that the manager trusted. That situation has changed with the arrival of Strand-Larsen and Mateta is now undergoing rest and physio. That would not have been possible had he gone to Milan and been required to play for the rest of the season. If rest and physio works he’ll be back playing in 4-6 weeks. If it doesn’t then he can still have surgery. It’s a perfectly sensible decision and ultimately one made between Mateta and his surgeon.

Mateta's medical took place in Paris with French Dr's & they were not happy & that is why Milan's own Dr came a day later & recommended not to buy him.

Palace got some consultants to study the medical notes & according to reports it was JP who got a German Dr in who he knew from when he was at Mainz to give his recommendations, bearing in mind, JP wants to play for France at the WC, whether he gets picked for the squad is a different matter.

Or he could be saying, in code, that the half time cuppa has never been the same since tea lady Mavis left on a big money transfer.
The key to it was a little secret ingredient she used to pick up from Daniel and Jefferson. It always seemed to lift the spirits.

Good Lord, someone on here who seems to know what they are talking about. Is that allowed?
