Mateta

Look, let's tell some home truths here. There is absolutely no way Mateta is making the French team for the World Cup. Form and attitude will be the reasons.
Fully agree His knee situation needs attention- no more football-
Do rules him out for Prem / Conf games & World Cup

Then trying to find a buyer in summer for him will be tricky but for us he we will not be offered a thing

His Agent has to the biggest con artist around & sooner JP sees that the better for him - He’s been mugged off only himself to blame

If he was smart he should have accepted the offer , gone for surgery earlier.Got game time for 3 months & back in French squad.

Come summer if an offer came in he’d get a big raise , club get sale money & his dumb arse greedy agent his 10%

Greedy arse fools this is pay back

If Mateta has any sense, he will go and get his knee op and try to regain hi form of last season.
Probably very unlikely at Palace, but at least he can recuperate and get his body back firing on all cylinders.
Not a cat in hell's chance of making either France's first squad or even 2nd squad if it existed.
He will also be very lucky to improve his salary after Palace if he stays in Europe.
Sadly he has come very unstuck and I expect his agent was involved in the awful decision making.
If I were him and knowing his desire to get super rich from the sport, I would be looking for a move to Saudi in the summer, where he can expect to triple his current salary.....and tax free.
His international days must surely be done.

Yep. He only made the squad before because a purple patch coincided with lots of French injuries.

With the forwards the have available I cant see him getting picked.

It's being reported that Mateta has avoided the need for surgery.
No doubt he will aiming for a World Cup place but this will depend upon him being integrated back into the squad and actually playing well for Palace.
We shall see.
He's certainly got the incentive.

Best option for Glasner this season, but a £25M gamble if it goes pear shaped for Palace in the summer.

Or maybe it is inoperable.

Hopefully rest will fix it but if not we may have a crock on our hands.

OG confirmed No surgery and 3 maybe 4 weeks out.

He’s staying and if he does give 100% as OG asserts he will- I will support him fully until the end of the season.

I think we will need him firing on all cylinders if we are to go deep in Conference League.

Glasner said that he'd already had 3 opinions, and wanted to get his old Mainz doctors opinion. Maybe its the case that he's found a doctor that will just agree with him.

Regardless, JSL is now going to be our no1. We've spend a lot of money, and he wants to be him. Helping him will be our priority.

JP will likely not get many minutes, and have to bust a gut when he does.

Has the club treated this man ill?

The moment his knee went it should have been in his interest to put him under the knife.

To serve the club (and because we failed to have back up in place) he was forced to play through pain.

He can now have his op. However the timing means he will miss the second half of the season, any chance of selection for the world cup and a mid season lucrative transfer.

And it is not as if he improved the team when he was playing while injured.

I dont want to see him in a Palace shirt again.
I get it… but I want to see it just because he is a sizeable asset.

Best case scenario for us now is he comes back rested, competes with Strand Larsen for that spot, both do well and we rotate where needed but SL does better so gets more starts. We finish the season strongly in the League and Comference. He makes the WC and we get a good fee for him to reinvest.

Ideally i’d like a public apology but (like with Glasner) whilst we are winning I’ll accept clear indications of commitment to the end of the season. They remain my least favourite entities currently at the club though and if they mess up again (temperament or performance) they can’t complain if we turn on them.
