Parish Out

A purported £50M for Larsen is an insane amount of money for a striker that has 1 goal and 1 assist this season..!!

Add to that Guessand on loan and Mateta still with us - means we now have a forward line of; Mateta, Larsen, Sarr, Pino, Johnson and Guessand - then add to that Nketiah when fit and then the lump Uche..!!

When we actually need a replacement for Guehi and a CDM..!!

You've got to question the strategy - because on face value this just doesn't make sense and smacks of panic buying..!!

We bought Johnson for £35M - he is average at best, when today Fulham bought Oscar Bobb for £27M - who IMO would have been a much better option. But did we really need either - could have taken Guessand on loan and bought in Hayden Hackney as a CDM.

Then if we have £50M - spend it on Diomande as replacement for Guehi, then use Sarr and Nketiah (assuming Mateta leaves)as forwards for the rest of the season - then look at it again in the summer..!!

There just seems no plan or strategy - as I said panic buying..!!

We will see..!!

COYP..!!
Well there's an obvious reason - Pardew is returning with a novel 1-1-8 starting line up...

Its an absolute travesty we have not replaced Marc. We have known he was going last year. This is criminal. We now look like we have shipped Mateta out (which im glad about)
What annoys me is we have known he wanted out 10 days ago. Why have we left it this late, with our biggest game of the season less than 2 days away, and kept a manager who clearly doesn't give a crap about what happens to us from now till the end of the season. All the above is down to Parish. For an established premier league team this is really shocking. I just can't put into words what im thinking.

we have been Trying to replace Marc in the 'proper' way for 18 months - first with Riad, then with Canvot so we have a Ready made replacement. Granted, it hasn't uite 'worked out'. Canvot is young, and Riad got injured. Twice. but it's not for a lack of trying.

haven't we been after JSL for about that? and Charif, and now after Guessand and what about Johnson?

Why have we left it this late
We haven't 'Left it late'. we haven't been able to get things over the line for a variety of reasons. It's how transfer windows go.

with our biggest game of the season less than 2 days away,
Settle down. Forest is not our biggest game of the season.

and kept a manager who clearly doesn't give a crap about what happens to us from now till the end of the season.
Fair enough. but who is the alternative?

All the above is down to Parish.
True. but as Ive shown above, he hasn't actually done anything you accuse him of.

For an established premier league team this is really shocking.
No it isn't. The shocking thing is the Sh*tstorm OG has released on the club by his behavior.

I just can't put into words what im thinking.
Try 'I can't stop over reacting, and I need a lie down'

We bought Chad Riad but he got injured unfortunately.
If we can get him fit and stay fit he will be a good replacement and with Canvot and Lerma in the wings we are fine in that position.
I agree that Glasner should go but the bile about Steve I just do not agree with.

I don’t want Parish out, but as CEO he has to take some responsibility for this season and it doesn’t look as if lessons have been learnt.

Whether you like Glasner or not many of the points he continuously raises are highly relevant.
You can bury your head and say he’s moaning again or you can examine what he’s saying.

We will be going into the important Forest game with 2 goalkeepers and a load of youngsters on the bench and no striker.
Guehi was sold two weeks ago, but still no replacement even on loan, so we’re relying on either a centre back who has been out for more or less a year or a rookie who is clearly not ready.
Lerma would be the other option, but of course we have only one other senior midfield option so he has to play there.
The only just returned Clyne will presumably have to cover both full back positions from the bench in the absence of Devenny and Sosa.
With this in mind why sanction Imray’s loan until after the Forest game?
Why not have JRS on the bench even if me may be on the way move again on Monday?
If you’re down to the bare bones why reduce squad options further?

The two goalkeepers and full bench of youngsters on on the bench is a particular bugbear of mine, and it happened last season too.
Forest’s bench on Sunday is likely to have the likes of Morato, Awonji, Ndoye, Hutchison, McAtee and possibly Wood - many millions worth pounds of senior players.

Sure , it can be argued that Kamada and Nketiah are on their way back and we may add one or two on Monday so the squad could be fuller thereafter.
It never quite works like that though with injuries and suspensions as too often our bench is found wanting.

Here's a thought: go to 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 or any variation that accommodates an experienced back 4, avoiding square peg round hole combinations. Munoz Richards Lacroix Mitchell - terribly simple. Avoid that which has failed for the past 6 weeks, shoehorning players just for the sake of a system that has had its day. I look forward to a new manager and a return to common sense.

I agree about the square peg round holes point, but still find it unacceptable that we continually have the worst options on the bench in the Premier League after more than 13 years in the Premier League.
Most games now involve the use of at least of 14 or 15 players and we go into games with a bench of 2 goalkeepers and a load of untried youngsters.
This applies whichever system is employed on the field.
It almost feels that we’re prepared to sacrifice games as long as we just finish outside the relegation zone.

Maybe we are happy to finish 17th every season. Maybe a certain someone was right about Palace not having any ambition.

Do we have the worst options though? In recent weeks it’s been lacking I grant you but we’ve had a lot of injuries. We could be looking at a bench with Lerma, Hughes, Nketiah, Clyne, one of Riad or Canvot, Benitez, Uche, Deveney. That’s not bad. I’d argue it’s fairly similar to a lot of the clubs in the EPL and better than Burnley, Wolves, West Ham and Leeds for example.

The real mistake was Glasner not rotating the squad more in Europe and only playing the same 12 or so which led to inevitable injury and fatigue.

Parish has single handedly destroyed all the progress and momentum from last season - we have gone from winners to a complete shambles in 6 months - as you say "words betray me"..!!

Anyone on here that maintains "Parish has a plan" is seriously deluded - he has no plan, no strategy, no idea and is totally out of his depth..!! He must go and go now..!!

‘Could be looking at a bench of….’ are the operative words.
In real term this does not happen enough as we’ve fielded two keepers and untried youngsters on a number of occasions both this season and last season.
Hence my reference to almost sacrificing games.

We’ll have to disagree about lack of rotation as I believe the likes of Uche, Sosa, Esse and Canvot are not good enough at present and have been found wanting when used.
I can understand Glasner’s reluctance to use them.

We had better attacking options in Pardew’s time and this time last year our centre back options included Guehi, Lacroix, Chaloboah and Richards.
I don’t see Canvot and Riad being adequate alternatives for Chaloboah and Guehi.
We are weaker now as a squad with Eze’s departure too.

I see the success that Glasner has achieved has been in spite of squad strength rather than because of it, which I accept will be a very unpopular view on here such is the current loathing for Glasner on these boards.
To put all our current ills down to Glasner and Mateta ( which some are doing) is to avoid proper scrutiny of some mismanagement at the top of the club.
For me this is an uncomfortable truth, much as many on here will disagree.

Strength for what - to admit Parish is be coming a complete liability..!!

It's the same window after window - history doesn't lie..!!

I just find it astounding that people on here still have blind faith in Parish - when his decisions are just totally destroying us..!!

Some people may do well to invest in some of these.

We were never going to have a squad that had first team ready replacements for 4 or 5 key injuries and then another 4 or 5 first team quality players sat on the bench. However, I agree with you that we could have strengthened more in key areas with centre back and right wing back being two of those.

As you say we will have to disagree on sqaud rotation. I can’t believe we couldn’t have rotated a lot more in Europe when playing the might of the Ukrainian, Finish, Norwegian, Irish and Cypriot leagues.

I certainly don’t lay all the blame on either Mateta or Glasner. I always expected December and January to be a downturn in form. However, as I’ve said many times a downturn is one thing. Picking up 2 points from 24 and losing to a team from the sixth tier is quite another. Especially when you don’t even try and adapt to the circumstances. For that Glasner has to be held accountable

On the contrary. Parish has a lot to answer for. The FA cup win should have alerted him as to the need for a strengthened bench for this season, but I think the cup win caught him in a situation which he didn't have experience of, namely heightened expectation and extra games, particularly with the loss of Freedman. This season has been a harsh learning curve. Up to then it had been a steady plodding, average 12th place finish, maintaining the Premiership status. In interview he has said as much. One can also mention the UEFA blundering and the conclusion I came to is that this guy is out of his depth. If the club avoids relegation and whoever the new manager is, hopefully Parish will have learnt something.

Really? 13 years in the PL - best years the club have ever had; buying players who develop into world class (Olise and Guehi); keeping us solvent after 2 administrations and the 2nd one almost destroying us. "Window after window"? Hmm. Jan 24 window saw the late arrival of Munoz and Wharton - but we got them over the line. We have a position in the pecking order and we're not top feeders in the food chain and unlikely ever to be so because the football authorities have set things up so the big and rich get bigger and richer.

We won the fa cup.
That is not something to start using as a springboard to top six.
It would cost multi multi millions to get there and PSR or FFP won’t allow that. Let alone the owners putting it in for likely no return. Momentum went with our injuries and afcon. Alongside our main striker forgetting where the goal is, our manager becoming a robot and selling our talisman (rightly so at the time)
Just to stay up now will be somewhat of a success.
