Yes Canvot's choice of pass wasn't ideal, but the rest of the team didn't help him out. Canvot was given no options - Mitchell at the least should have made a move to give him an easier pass. And given the other 'mistake' was the handball which wasn't a handball, he didn't do that much wrong, but it feels as though he's being overly punished for it.
JC is young, he's gonna make mistakes - jeez, there's been plenty of these examples over the years. I remember a fairly recent one involving a shocking throw in that ended up going straight to an (everton?) player. or another a few seasons back where a new(ish) player did almost the same thing.
On top of that, he's been hauled off a couple of times, most notably vs Arsenal in The FACup where 1) he was up against a v.good Martinelli, and 2) he was being played out of position at right (wing?) back.
We have to be careful not to completely destroy this lads confidence. Treated correctly, he could be a VERY good defender, and IMO he's not far off PL quality. He needs Gametime, and to be part of a settled defensive unit. The problem is if we can give him that given our current issues. But please, cut him some slack.
