Glasner Out

Fair enough. I wish I shared your optimism.

I think our performers have been awful. We haven’t looked like winning any of the last 11. It’s not like we conceded last minute goals or lost a 4-3 thriller.

In the last 11 we’ve conceded 21 goals and scored 8. We haven’t scored more than a single goal in a game since KuPS. That’s dreadful form and performances for me but I respect your opinion

I think parts of performances have been awful.

In most games we've been pretty good for decent periods of time. Clearly we are not 100%, but we're not a million miles off.

Even on Sunday, if JP had scored that early chance it might have been a different game

I hear you but being competitive for 35 mins just doesn’t cut it for me. I think the minimum we should expect is to be competitive against most teams. We aren’t at the moment for most of the time in games. As I say we haven’t looked close to winning any game recently

If you were a potential candidate for the next manager, wouldn`t you be keeping track of Glasner`s comments and the clubs response? Choosing to do nothing is likely to cause more problems in the long run.
Coppell was a brilliant manager for us but third was achieved when the playing field was far more even. As such I did not believe anyone would come close but Glasner has surpassed Coppell.
Prize money for the conference league is dependent on several things, so far the money for 10 points in the league stage is equivalent to finishing a place higher in the premier league. Getting to the quarter finals another place and so on.
I feel our best option at this point in time is Mr Motivated himself Fiery Paddy

Be best for OG to step down & let Paddy take proceedings.

I feel , will be told I’m soooo wrong, that the results will be much of a muchness as it’s hard to see where a goal is coming from. Our set pieces seem unpracticed. Our midfield are not creating enough killer passes.I was told we had x10 shots at Chelsea goal ,I saw 1 in 1st half , score 1 in 2nd did other 8 come in last 9 minutes?

I think motivation is really need right now & Coach who wants away, said he does not care, calls the bench “kids” - Well he’s really doing well winning them over hey.
Can OG do & watch Sir Matt’s Busby Babes documentary.

Change is required , not a panic, but a motivational change - step forward Pads

OG seems too stubborn to get us out of this mire. Two next games (Forest and Brighton) I can see only us well beaten. Then okves and Burnley - less than 4 p here and we are really among the relegation favorites. Right now we are the worst team in PL by a country mile, even Wolves has improved in the last couple of games. So, if we play the same system with the same players in those games, Glasner should be sent packing, Pads take over and not be afraid to use some of our younger players.

Our first ever cup win alongside the highest points tally we’ve achieved in the Prem - objectively the most successful season we’ve ever had.

After guiding Wolfsburg into the Champions League for the first time in almost a decade and guiding Frankfurt to a first European trophy since 1980.

Clearly the CV of a terrible manager.
and our longest unbeaten run

It was the quality of the squad, not the manager.

Ungrateful, entitled arrogance as if you are a Madrid or Arsenal fan.

You would not have the gall to say it to his face.

It was having an excellent, winning coach with some good players. He got the job done for us in two finals.

Palace without Glasner = 118 years and 0 trophies (Data Systems Cup aside).

Palace with Glasner = 18 months and 2 trophies, and our first ever European campaign.

He will be forever a legend, despite a difficult period now losing key people.

This is a challenging period, but we need to focus on building, getting the main stand refurb going, improving revenues, and being canny in the transfer market.

Selling MG was the right move under the circumstances. Selling JPM may also be a canny sale, if we can reinvest that money wisely.

In Parish I trust. I hope he is ignoring the noise and working calmly in the background on the bigger picture.

Disgraceful take. Glasner has certainly been annoying how he has been selfish over the MG situation, not considering the club's position, and I question whether it will help him in the long run, but he is still our legendary cup winning manager.

Ah of course, a logic that suggests managers are basically irrelevant. Makes you wonder why every club in the world puts so much focus on it.

It's also an amazing coincidence that Glasner has been so lucky in all three of those jobs as to inherit squads so good that success was inevitable.
What happened the following seasons?

For clubs at our level, both financially and in the grand scheme, achieving any success is a mysterious combination of tactics, coaching, man management, bringing in players who compliment each other and are committed to common aims - with so many variables it can fall apart quite easily. Some managers can bring these things together, Brian Clough for instance, although not all the time, and fair play to Glasner - he did it successfully for a while. But, like Clough, it seems his ego has got in the way.
He might be a one trick pony but I'd take that over one who's just pony.

do you know anything about Paddy's management style and tactical prowess? I'm interested to know what his strengths are and whether he could improve things. At present our system doesn't seem to be working, individual players aren't performing/making game-changing errors, and we lack belief. That's a lot to fix and you need a manager with tactical and motivational attributes to fix those things. I'm not digging you out btw, I only really know Paddy the player and that he's been working with the youth/reserves. Not much beyond that.

Yes, I would, he is decent, he is stubborn, if we can get the players over the line, then that is good work, and pleasing, I want Palace to succeed, however is manager.
I think the main issue with Glasner has been the lack of clarity over whether he was staying. Even Lanzo wanted him to sign a new deal at the end of December. Now we know he's leaving he has to get results as there is no longer any future for him at the club, regardless of whether people think he is a good manager or not. The Chelsea result was probably to be expected, but the next four games you would have to say that 6 points is the minimum expectation. Get 7 or more and we're basically safe. Get 3 or fewer and we're in a relegation scrap and I think Parish might be forced to act. Weirdly, we're actually 4 points better off at this stage of the season than we were last season, even if it doesn't feel like it right now.

Who threw his bench under the bus which was pretty bad and maybe just to prove a point which didn’t need poirot to figure out. Also we didn’t win in 10 games with MG so why was he suddenly so important at Sunderland !

Because as a manager you always want to field your strongest team

Well yeah that’s a gimme to ‘field’ your strongest team, But when you are only a goal behind 20 odd minutes left, and have players on the bench that may ( or may not granted) change the game. Your on pitch players are tired what do you do. Yup that’s right leave the tired players on to get more tired and carry on with the same old thing !
