Mateta

Unhappy players are rarely worth keeping. Mateta, should be sold, decent price ,sell. Well that is until you consider it took a good two seasons to get a tune out of him, and for the sort of money we have the same situation would be in play.
The reason for buying Nketia, is not clear as he doesn’t actually replace what Mateta, gives the team.It might have been better to have spent that money on a prospective Mateta.

I have some sympathies with his thinking .... I was a plodder, then came along Olise and his mate Eze plus Roy left, so I could play upfront instead of having to track back all the time. I got stronger and the coaching staff showed me how to leverage my strength, hold up play and then run into space where my mates would feed me the ball and I could actually score. I did great last season, but then this season none of my teammates know how to feed me simple passes to run on to, the team has gone to the dogs, totally overworked, made to play with a bad knee and we can't catch a break because the gaffer is totally done. I want to play for France in the World Cup, but there is no way I can score goals with this team and so I need to play with people that will make me look good and get some shots on target, because I am never going to get the ball in the back of the net with this lot. If I throw a hissy fit, then no one will like me, so they have to get rid of me .....
All correct.. but he has been fed almost more I think, only he missed so much more. Pretty much every game he is fed by Pino, Wharton or Kamada through balls and he is one on one and misses. Maybe it's a bad touch or the pass inte as perfect, but still.

Nah, I see it completely differently. He was dogshtie for two years. We stuck with him. Gave him the fame and record needed to get into the French team. Then at the first sign of trouble, he wants out. Screw him.

He hasn’t been prolific throughout his career.
In a decent spell with us, which coincided with him being supplied by Olise, Eze, Munoz etc. he was great. A long purple patch, now back to what he probably really is. Great memories, if he wants to go. Cash him.

What has actually happened with JPM? Seems to have forgotten that offside is still part of the game and misses inside of the goal posts even from inside the box. His offside goal vs Sunderland showed he still has got it, but if his mind is set on leaving - sell and get a decent replacement.
PS! Please not Norwegian Strand-Larsen from Wolves....
I think he has missed Munoz and Sarr most of all. He can't run onto stuff and his one on one record is abysmal. Now he has said he wants to leave I hope we sell him in the window.

no he wasnt the system was , and he had very little time to imbed into the team . as said the supply changed , and the run of games changed , he has 8 goals to his name this season ,

he may now get better supply again he will have 4 outlets when holding the ball Sarr , Johnson , Munoz and Wharton , why do people always watch games with blinkers instead of seeing were else it fails ,

harry Kane went 2 months without scoring does that make him a bad player , and he is one of the best strikers in the world , and he is 29 this year and wants to play in the champions lge Plus Italy , he doesnt have the luxury of being a harry Kane to wait

Regardless of what he owes us, we own him etc

The one thing the club didn't need after Glasner (who has behaved like a d1ck), and Guehi (who has behaved like a gent) is our CF saying he wants out.

Even if he does, there are ways to do it to prevent it being a backpage headline. Give your agent a list of clubs and ask them to have some quiet chats sure. Have a chat with Steve or Matt os they can start preparing.

The fact that its been so public, shows that either he has absolutely no respect for us, especially when we are wounded, or his agent is a tw@t.

Regardless, I'm not sure I'll be able to forgive him for that.

And on Sunday after missing a few chances, better not start trying to gee up the Holmesdale.

I do think Mateta deserved a new deal a year ago when he was banging them in. That deal should have reflected his standing as our first choice striker and the value his goals had.

This deal would have had a release clause in place that would have solved all this b0ll0x as it is then in black and white. Wolves did it with Cunha and it just helps keep your stars happy when you know
The time has come. This Mateta situation benefits no one and certainly not the rest of the squad.

I don’t know salaries but imagine Nketiah is earning more then Mateta and that isn’t going to help things

He wants to go, sell him, but if we get a striker in i hope the new manager, whoever he is, sanctions it

Apparently Juve have just signed a striker so they are now out of the picture.

I'm afraid that JPM maybe another Zaha (2nd spell). He wants to leave for a bigger club but the offers are not there. I doubt he is the no 1 target for anyone of course if we dropped our price there would be takers but why should we.

It sounded like we tried, but he was after 170k or something crazy.

It it was a case of upping him to 100k it would have been sorted easily (you would have thought)

Mateta has been badly advised. If he left for a decent club now he, with the form he is in, he could find himself benched and with no chance of the World Cup.

If it's about money, he only needs to wait until the summer, when he will probably have been sold anyway.

He needs to suck it up and rediscover some form.

Get him sold, bring in Larsen who is a similar sort of player but younger. It probably won’t improve us but I can’t see us being worse either.

His agent doesn't seem to have much of a roster so is presumably trying to capitalise on his only real asset.

For avoidance of doubt at this juncture I am not furnished with the information as to the reasons for Mateta's desire to leave the club.
Perhaps he sees a crumbling edifice and wants to exit before the building is raised to the ground.
It is possible that he is totally disillusioned with the club, has lost his motivation and believes he needs a new environment and challenge to rediscover his form and mojo.
