In other words, I don't see selling Guehi for £20m plus add-ons and a sell-on clause as being at all stupid.
- We bought 2 CBs as potential replacements for Guehi (Riad and Canvot)
- In the ideal world Riad wouldn't have been injured for the past year and would have shown us what he could do by now.
- in the ideal world Guehi would have been willing to sign a year's extension so we could have longer to see how the 2 youngsters would fare and get some money back for him, but he didn't.
- We buy players like Guehi with a view to selling them for a profit when they've matured.
- We can't afford to let such players go for nothing.
- Despite Guehi's presence over the last 10 games, we've still been in freefall.
- His departure is unlikely to be the difference between staying in the Prem and relegation.
Nor do I - I agree with much of what you say. My point is more around timing and I think doing so before we got a replacement in was stupid.
