I may have stated the obvious, but that is because some people seem to think that it is all about money and would break the bank to keep OG. (Including yourself “So it's just about his financial package? If so, you don't think the club should break the bank to keep him?”)
My main point to you wanting answers why we let OG go was that we don’t control the narrative!
OG has a long history of short term contracts and then walking away. I don’t see our situation as being different.
I do not dote over Parish, but I respect the job he has done and more importantly I am very realistic about who we are and what we can achieve. Unfortunately we don’t support a big club in terms of finances, but we remain on a sound footing and punching above our weight. I’m not sure why so many people can not understand this. We simply can not spend what we don’t have. I am not prepared to risk going into administration for a third time just for a short term gain.
I would hope that our recruitment structure hasn’t collapsed, but everyone with any common sense knows how difficult it is to get the right deals over the line. You only have to look at how many crap players are brought by our rivals for big fees and don’t improve their squads. I believe we are cautious for a reason as we have had our finger burnt in the past.
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get players in, we just need to get the right ones!!!!
You and Bobby Manzi are perfectly entitled to be critical of the board, it’s just my opinion that we’re doing alright!
