Mackerel & Sardines ?

years ago I caught , then cooked some mackerel. Essentially bottom-feeders, which put me off eating them. They are fragrant. However, grilling them turns the aroma volume down, then a splash of lemon and some toast turns them into a breakfast you'll be tasting until bedtime.

Nothing fancy.

Mash sardines into a baked potato with some no added sugar ketchup. Throw in some salad on the side.

Very filling.

I make a sardine pate using tinned sardines. Put the sardines in a bowl and mash them up. Add some finely chopped red onion, crushed garlic, mayonnaise, black pepper and mix in. If you like herbs , chop up the herb of your choice ( I love coriander) and add. This goes well on toasted sourdough.

I'm reporting this post to the moderators, you should be at least yellow-carded for such a disgusting suggestion ... you grate cheese on to your baked beans don't you? stop the world I want to get off.

mackerel is an oily fish. Try whole fish - skin pricked to let out oil - with filling of choice (optional) - on BBQ to well done.

Personally I quite like those little tins of Sardines in Tomato sauce, a bit of Tabasco to liven it up, on toast

The OP should try Herring all the oils, Omega 3 etc, he may be looking for. Surstromming might a good start, it looks like fun apart from anything else.

I bet you've never tried it.

And no. I don't eat baked beans.
