Ollie must be the priority signing

Watching SSN and reading other media notes about how we are going to lose this person and that person. I have come to the conclusion that the absolute priority must be to get Ollie on board and on a longer contract.

This may take some serious magic and sleight of hand as I genuinely can't see him staying as he walked out on his last club because of there transfer policy (or rather lack of it) and we have hardly been backing him after he did the hard part and gave us our first (major) bit of silverware.

Watching our team yesterday it was clear that our starting 11 are in absolute sync with each other and with the boss (MG aside as he walked off with the hump for some reason).

That unity and this manager... we can give anybody and I do mean anybody a game. If Ollie wants to play Kamada over Hughes... I am going to trust him. If he wants to play Devenny over Esse (I would have gone for the later and switched Sarr over to the left where he tore England a new one for his country)... I trust him.

If we do lose MG and Eze, I trust we will be ok with Ollie at the wheel. However if he goes, I will be gutted because I think he will go without the urgently needed replacements plus some additional squad strengthening. I really can see us winning the conference and finishing comfortably in mid to high table this season and actually into Europe for a 2nd season (qualifying both ways... UEFA can do one but I'm sure they will find a way to kick us out twice) I also think that with Ollie we could smash the Europa too and get into the champions league, now wouldn't that be something for little old Palace for SE25.

Come on Steve and Co. Pull your fingers out. Do whatever you need to do to get this man onboard long term.... I beg of thee.
Just beacuse he wins a trophy doesnt means he infallible. Him starting devenny over esse is malpractice imho.

Well that's a matter of opinion . Devenny has proved to be the safe option , following instruction to the letter and if his final ball and finishing was better (I'm sure that will come ) would be a nailed on starter .

He is basically everything Esse isn't .

The manager has to trust the players he puts out on the pitch .He also has to trust that the club will back him and give him every chance to succeed . Do that and he will stay .

Media soundbites around the "intensified talks" between the club and OG during the previous international break seem to have wound down.

The last I saw was OG saying something along the lines of "if we can reach agreement then the talking will stop. Also if we do not the talking will stop."

Is no news good news? Or should we be bracing ourselves?

Ideally it needs sorting before January window if the club are planning any business. I’m sure Glasner would like a couple of additions but if he’s not here in the summer should he have input? Equally if they send Uche back that might not suit the new incumbent.
I’d like him to sign for another couple of years - more than that for a manager these days is silly all round. If it’s not happening we need to carefully manage the rest of the season and scout our replacement.

For more than a year we hear that discussions have been ongoing with Guehi, Mateta and Glasner.

It's now looks clear that Guehi will be going.

The club has an option for a further year on Mateta, but a decision will need to be taken on him whether to realise some value for him in the summer and avoid a Guehi type situation arising.

When discussions carry on for such lengthy periods with players/managers It's never a good sign.

On Glasner, I've no doubt the club will try and retain him.
He's an excellent manager with that single mindedness that separates the best managers from the mediocre ones.
I see elements of Ferguson and Guardiola in him in that he manages to be ruthless but still a good man manager.
There is no pressure on Glasner and he can take his time in his discussions with the club, but if I was Parish I would be lining up alternatives.

I very much suspect that succession planning has been in progress 👍
