Labour Party politics

The slight fall in inflation is not a "budget boost" for Rachel Reeves as has been suggested.Inflation did not fall by as much as economists had predicted. Higher than expected inflation is not a budget boost.
I never suggested it was it is merely a step in the right direction, as for you quoting "economists " 10 economists in the same room have 10,000 different arguments if you ever find economists in accord bet the opposite. It was down to that lot we got a new town called Milton Keynes, silly sausages Gower Botham sounded much better.

Inflation is still higher than the Bank of England target of 2%.
There will of course be some differentials in respect of economists projections but they are rarely polarised.
On my way now for a lunch with a member of the Conservative Party. 👍

As it was under the tories where it peaked at over 11% in October 2022 before they were thrown out and humbled by the electorate. I'm very surprised that a tory wishes to remind us of such abject failure.

Two achievements under Labour today firstly inflation has dropped to 3.6% down by .2% and the government has decided to increase the deposit protection scheme this means that money you have in a bank or Building Society is now protected up to £120,000 lifted from the previous £85,000 this will kick in on 1st December. This supports people's trust in the financial system.
I wouldn’t be crowing about a 0.2% drop on inflation. And it’s arguably higher than 3.6% anyway. Food goes up that amount every month averaged out over a year. This government are incompetent liars and traitors. They won’t reverse that for many years.

Much better than the 11% plus achieved by the last thoroughly useless Tory administation, I never crowed I said "a step in the right direction only" and suggested an increase in the deposit scheme was a good move.

The Prime Minister indulging in gutter politics once again at PMQs.

Labour is terrified of Nigel Farage. There will be a deluge of dirty tricks and spurious stories between now and the next election.

Let's remove these fools at the next available opportunity.

VOTE REFORM.

The above was mentioned by Starmer today at PMQ's.

And sums up in microcosm much of what is wrong with the political environment today.

Starmer is there to answer to the Commons on his and his Labour Partys performance. As of now. His response doesn't give any explanation for why the rate is above the BOE target. As of now. He never directly responds to a question. Instead he deflects to the Tories - yes they were useless in the end - but they have been consigned to history - for now.

Nobody cares what the Tories did anymore. The excuse wore thin about a month after the election. If you're in government take charge and make the tough decisions. Own it. This lot are just not up to it. I've seen lost golf balls with more direction.

I think the Bank are forecasting the 2% in 2027

Willo was pointing out that the B of E target 2% and thought Labour was woefully short i merely pointed out that it is better now than under the tories.

In a nutshell the 2% target has not been reached for years but Labour have got inflation down and the bank have reduced Interest rates five times as a consequence, no politician gives a decent answer they stick to their pre- arranged script Farage is very good at this.

You should be in Starmers Government.

His tactic of blaming everything on the Tories is wearing thin on the electorate according to the latest polls.

But there’s still a few out there that are falling for that narrative and you are one of them

When governments are still blaming the previous one after 1 year in power it means that they are scratching around for achievements.

It still shows the government can't reach its targets. That the last government didn't doesn't change the reality now. In the main Labour just look silly or desperate mentioning the Tories now. They have to get on with how it is. There are opportunities to improve the economy but I'm not even hearing about that, let alone seeing it. This is, at best, defeatism. Be statesmanlike Starmer, come up with a proper plan, stick to some values, make a speech - do something. Have realistic policies. Stuttering about Tories is just pathetic.
Rising taxes, higher prices, doom laden budgets, no improvement in services - they will for damn sure get you voted out. Labour need to take ownership of the problems - not play children's games with excuses.
The Tories did this, the Tories did that. Yes, they were sh1t, but it's "so what?"

So what does Labour compare themselves to/ An Imaginary Reform Party?

In the past there have been successful candidates who never even mentioned their challengers. It put the challenger on the back foot because they were ignored so spent all the time trying to get the attention of the leading candidate which only made them look sadder.

A strong government should ignore the opposition and focus on it's achievements. Let the opposition harp on about the "good ole days" the electorate will soon start asking them that was yesterday so what's your plan for now?

This applies to all parties but Labour are in power, unfortunately they don't have a lot to brag about so go defensive and blame the Tories. It's not what the public want to hear, we need a leader with a vision not the "it's not our fault blame the last lot".

Blair was pretty good at the vision thing even though he was a lying scumbag.
