Why was so hated? Never quite understood.
He didn't make much impact, but it seemed to go much deeper than that.

I thought it was just that he was rubbish. Also very lightweight. Bambi on ice really caught on. Anybody near him and he was muscled off the ball by their shadow. The breath of the goalie could halt his most powerful shot. I would say he made Sanogo look good, but he didn't so that would be a lie. No one could.
However, Bamford had that little spell at Leeds when he was alright - that actually made it worse for him and us. We disliked him even more as he clearly could have been a lot better than he was. Anybody could have been - except Sanogo.
Benteke really is Messi in comparison to these two.

Kind of more confused now.

No one hated Sanogo (Scorenogoal) and he was even worse.
Bamford felt personal.

They played a totally different system that suited him, not a premiership centre forward.

When we had him on loan he wasn't getting the minutes he thought he deserved. Roy wasn't adapting to using him to his skills (much like Sorloth).

His detriment was going to the press and complaining about it. I can't remember exactly what was said, but something about not wanting to be at Selhurst. After that, he became a villain (I don't mean playing for Aston Villa 🙂 )

Oh, and Sanogo was worse. I don't think I've ever seen someone put on a Palace shirt that was so poor at football.

My memory of him was that we got him as a very young player on loan from Chelsea with potential. But he rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way with how surly he appeared. Having achieved very little in the game at that stage, and as very much unproven, he did not fit in interpersonally. Then he made disparaging public remarks about the club and by inference some of the staff and his teammates.

Perhaps he saw Palace as a massive step down from Chelsea and was not willing to come in the first place. Perhaps he got given assurances which were not how things played out, who knows. But for me the evidence since (baiting Sheff Utd with anti Wilder songs, smug interviews on MOTD, and doubtless more) paints the picture of a bit of a tool.

Talking of Bamford,Leeds had a weird manager who sat on a bucket to watch matches,I found it slightly worrying had he forgotten his Imodium?

If my memory serves right he was on loan from Chelsea and cut that short. He said he wanted to pmay for a bigger and intermated we were not good enough. The gut thought he was the next Teddy Sheringham but turned out to be a numpty

He was appallingly useless for us but I never hated him. I think a small combination of things rocketed him into villainy:

1. Coming from Chelsea
2. Being posh
3. Going on to play for Leeds
4. Moaning about Palace
5. Looking so completely lost and ineffective at a time where we were desperate, as we were constantly fighting relegation, so emotions were a lot higher then (easy to forget now).

I kinda almost hate him out of loyalty to Palace now, there's no real logic or rationale behind it.

What I hated most about Bamford is that either side of his stint at Palace he was quite good. At Palace he was as much use as an ashtray on a bicycle.

I hated Sanogo. But there was little point. He was so s*** that it was actually comedy to have the privilege to see him.
Actually, whilst I just said I hated Bamford, and was about to say I hated Sanogo, I don't think I have ever really hated any player. I have hated our recruitment that's led to sh*t players playing for us, but directing the hate to the actual player is probably wrong.

With some exceptions. Attitude problems have made me want some players to b*gger off, but not quite the same as hating them.

Banford said somthing along the lines of he should be a guaranteed starter at a small club like Palace (it was a few years ago).

As for Sanogo....he hit the woodwork against Burnley (i think on his debut?), what could have been!!

Yea, I can't think of Palace players I hated.

A few have been quite hard to support. The only two that spring to mind are Zohar and Muscat, for different reasons.
