The Donald Trump thread

Trump is vilified by New Yorkers hence the Muslim Socialist. Over a million votes that's probably more than the entire Tory Party got whilst losing the last GE !
My point was that just because NY votes one way the leaders of the Democratic party are well aware that this candidate and his policies may not translate across the rest of America.

You might as well say that as Islington (Corbyn) goes so do the rest of the UK, only it does.

I am not taking away from the guys achievement just saying he isn't the answer to Trump's successor when the Presidential's roll around, it's why the Democratic Party was slow to endorse him.

I would suspect quite a large Republican win if they did put a candidate like that. I feel that the rest of the US is generally a little more conservative and Christian than New York. I could be way off the mark but I would suspect there are a lot of states where barely anyone would vote for a non Christian. Let alone the other policies.
I think the democrats - although not exactly the sharpest - feel that way too.
However, if this guy makes a big name for himself and even, dare I say, delivers anything - it could all change.

He could deliver milk and honey. However, the Republican base would not vote for him as they do not vote for Democrats, period. And the vast majority of floaters would still not vote for him as his achievements would be filtered through the media they view as anything but.

Fair enough. I'd like to see him improve New York for people but I doubt it.

He cannot stand for President he was born in Uganda.

Okay, I didn't mean him especially, he's only just got the job as mayor so unlikely to be the next presidential candidate.

Obviously my typing skills are not good today. The point I am trying to make is that a candidate that shares his political views is unlikely to be chosen as the Democrat nomination for President. He is an outlier, in some blue states they may also elect similar local candidates but they are no the answer to fight the next Presidential election.

our media continue to portray Trump as the bad guy. And even in spite of the headline below..... No doubt Ursula Van der Leyen would strongly disapprove. Wrong war. Wrong enemy.

We can celebrate it because we can get more refugees in. And our politicians and mates can more out of renting out properties. It's a win, win.

well, not really. Over-regulation has killed the Goose that had previously layed the golden eggs. Thus reducing the supply of rental properties. Thus causing another sh1.tstorm.

now, getting back to Trump. Imagine if he is only the first of a long line of democratically elected leaders ? Leaders that the Mainstream media hates and cannot control ?
Farage, Geert Wilders, Marine Le Pen, Viktor Orban, Meloni....etc....are these real right-wing populist demagogues or are they a fake 'controlled opposition ?

Interesting because of the potential conflict. Ultimately it would be the changlings v the establishment. I can see it being fun, but think the establishment will ultimately win and reset. That's why Trump is grooming his successor, because there is a danger that once Trump goes, power will swing back to a newly-fortified establishment.

our establishment seems to like it when populists stay below 35% of the vote. Probably thinking "keep them there forever".....but Trump getting through, getting elected, and going mainstream was a horror miscalculation from the usual baddies.
They want to absolutely make certain it never happens again. A bit like the crooked Presidential election we just had in Ireland. The mainstream shut out a populist Right-winger - by ensuring she didnt get enough political nominations to 'go to the country' .....and the net outcome ? we got a nasty surprise of a hard left President. The right got blocked. The normal dependable support, for the centre, collapsed. Ireland now has a woman waving a Palestine flag in our Presidential office.

Well he did win the FIFA peace award and covets the Nobel.Peace prize so maybe this is Donalds way of spreading peace across the continent.

Greenland looks to be next and maybe when Nigel takes the reins we can join the union as the 51st state.

Don't follow leaders watch the parking meters.
