Wilfried Zaha return

To be fair to Wilf, he has some right to be p*ssed off. To be name checked when there were several players involved, you can see why that irked him. But I do think Wilf has handled this badly. He could easily have gone "you know what, it was hurtful that we laughed at him. It disappointed me that he only named me, but I am glad to see how well he's doing now". Anyway, handbags. A great player of old vs a player who wears our colours today. Hopefully blows over like it deserves to.

I agree Wilf has handled this badly and massively over reacted, but i'm not sure the name check was that bad. JP didn't say he was bullied, merely that he was laughed at - and Wilf has confirmed that he did do this.
Clearly in the dressing room at that time Wilf would have been the biggest name - players like Wardy and Macca won't get much recognition in France.
It was a throw away comment that has clearly got blown out of proportion and Wilf has reacted to online trolls.
Maybe Wilf's comment that he doesn't have friends in football is the biggest takeaway from this non story

Wilf must still hurt from when his beloved Arsenal passed him over for his compatriot Pepe for the mere sum of £72m, more or less what Parish wanted for Wilf, and yet Pepe had had no Prem experience whilst Wilf was tried and tested. And there I think you have it.

"Wilf" and "reacting to trolls" is like peas and carrots

Maybe. But maybe we wouldn't have won anything with Zaha? We can't predict the future. I did think that he should have renewed his contract with us rather than join Galatasaray or whoever for less. And I think in hindsight he probably thinks that. But hindsight is usually right isn't it. I can't fathom how Wilf thought Turkey would work out? Had he not looked into it at all? Or was it just the property prices? Who knows.
He wanted to play in the Champions League and did, for a cup of coffee. At his age, that move was a risk and he at least got to tick a goal off.
Now he's playing in a smalltime league, no major trophy to his name, clinging onto this Mateta story. I can understand his frustration of being singled out and why Mateta would want people to know of this story, because he proved everyone wrong; however, Zaha of the past would have said nothing and got on with his football.

Would have loved to have seen Zaha lift the cup with us, but I think he would have been a bench player at this point.

The guy was overhyped/overrated and the big clubs saw this plus his attitude has always stunk.

OG would have got rid of him if he had still been at the club he wouldn't put up with him like so many other managers from the past did (It has been confirmed by multi former managers about his attitude & because he was chummy with likes of SP I bet you he had special treatment which is what sort of kept him happy to a point at Palace)

People kept defending him we have seen clear evidence at every club away from Palace he has been nothing but trouble.

He wont change now it's too late and if he wasn't protected he would get a right kickin from people. (If I was his current team I would get rid of him you don't want people like that around they are toxic)

Simon Jordon spoke really well about it all.

It's important to remember that Wilf kept us in the premier for years. He built the foundations that enabled us to take a small step higher and win the cup.
Without Wilf's contribution we would be in the Championship and no where near the Cups.
Wilf laid the foundations and provided the stage for the likes of Mateta to flourish.
I doubt Mateta would have got his French cap if he had stayed at Mainz or signed for someone else. He rode the wave of Palace success that Wilf massively contributed to.
Mateta should thank him.

Yeah. Hope JPM sends Kevin Philips a birthday card , every year aswell.

Don't forget Prince Albert.

If it wasn't for him...

SJ is friends with Wilf he will always take his side.

No he didn't keep us in the league people need to stop claiming this it's something the media made up it's a team sport.

More nonsense about laying foundations for others.

Why should Mateta thank him for what? him taking the p**s out of him.

Mateta -
Prem Games - 138Goals 43Assists 9

Zaha
Prem Games - 291Goals 68Assists 30

One is an out and out striker, the other played most often as a winger.

At his peak, there was no comparison. I love JPM, but Zaha was a much better player.
