Clear & Obvious should not introduce subjectivity - the clue is in the title.
The PGMOL have always emphasised (and still do) that VAR should not interfere with the referee’s decision unless there is a Clear & Obvious Error. VAR should also NOT re-referee the game.
Why is it so difficult for them to stick to that?! We have regressed to the other end of the scale, in that VAR looks at everything in immediate review and essentially re-referee’s the game. This is wrong and completely at odds with what they said it was for.
Stick to a clear and obvious error. If they can’t, get rid of it because it is absolutely killing the game!
As a number of pundits have observed; the managers don’t like it, the players don’t like it and the supporters don’t like it.
