Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

In reality the club cannot do much about it if 1. the player refuses a new contract and 2. interested clubs repeatedly think they can get him dirt cheap because of it. Newcastle dicked us around all summer then finally offered his value with no time to rearrange our squad to cope with his departure. Liverpool take the moral high ground but they've done exactly the same thing albeit with a lower starting figure because of the less time on his contract. If Palace consider selling him in January they need to make clear what the price is AND go and get a replacement in thats affordable. Then all interested clubs know the score and we keep him for the final 6 months of his contract if we keep getting low balled.
I wasn't in any way in doubt or questioning events but it is not a good look, going to the pub on saturday I expect supporters of other clubs will enjoy this episode.

We can’t sell him in January if he doesn’t want to be sold. Indeed my understanding (may be wrong) is that he can then agree a pre-contract with Real Madrid or any other foreign club if he wishes to do so. This is how Liverpool’s low ball tactics might come back and bite them on the bum. The chances of getting money for him in January seem very slim to me.

Liverpool (spit) could always buy him for money in January to stop him going to a big club in Europe.

In the Lineker podcast Parish said the club always looks ahead and plans accordingly e g you want to avoid the contracts of key players expiring at the same time.
In theory this sounds fine, but in reality we usually end up with lastminute.com windows.

Sorry to bring up Brighton, but they do proper succession planning
Bisouma is moved on and replaced by Caceido who in turn is moved on and replaced by Baleba, always at a vast profit.
It enabled them to ask Man United for £100+ million if they wished to pursue Baleba.
They are rarely involved in last day transfer scrambles and often have players lined up for the following season before the current season has finished.
It can be done.
Yes, I know they are tte enemy and we won the FA Cup and they didn't- but the point about transfer policy I think has validity.

Don't be fooled. They buy a lot more players that fail than us who you never see or hear from. One this year I forget the name, 19, £16m and straight on loan. They do that a lot.

Just because Chelsea have a money washing scheme with them doesn't make them admirable.

We have 2 trophies.

You have an inferiority complex then. Get rid and tell them it was their stupidity and you don't want to hear anymore of their blaming and pity

On the bbc's rolling sports news, they have put up a graph of team spending in this window, Forest have spent £205m & received £107m leaving a minus £98m & with a £105m losses allowed over 3 years for PSR, they could be in trouble(he says hopefully). The other thing seem to have forgotten about is UEFA's FFP, it is much stricter, i'm not sure of the figures, but, both Chelsea & Villa have been fined for breaking it. As we are now in Europe(god, that sounds great), we too, are subject to FFP.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. It amazed me the number of Forest fans who criticised us for the lack of solidarity when they breached PSR before.

Whereas we have been critical for not bringing in enough players Forest seem to be very scattergun perhaps not caring that some will work and others not. Interesting to see they seem to be sailing close to the wind again.

Villa were fined about 10m euros and Chelsea about 25 m or so and are threatened with much bigger fines (x2 or x3) if they don't get their transfer dealings in credit - hence Chelsea having a positive net transfer figure this window and Villa a small negative net figure. I'd be surprised if Mary Knickers wants to risk that level of penalty.
Interesting they are sailing close to the wind but there is probably an attitude that they could seel a couple of the players they've bought this summer that don't quite work out to help balance the books.

I don’t think they care. Forest were given a 4 point penalty for breaching PSR. That’s not a deterrent. If a club brings in a few quality players that is likely to be worth a lot more than 4 points benefit. If the football authorities are serious about PSR then the starting penalty for breaching it would be relegation.

This - or 50 million fine and miss the next 3 windows - in and out. That'd kill it for sure. No chance of it happening, top 6 would never allow it

Sky are reporting that Parish pulled the plug on the Guehi deal at 4pm, in which case he could have been in a fitness class around 6pm as suggested in some media outlets.
Sky also said that we turned down interest in Mateta and Munoz.

Perhaps we'll see the window as not too bad in the fullness of time.
Losing Eze was the only real blow and we've added 3 young players who all appear to add different qualities to the squad.
Another attacking player, even on loan, would have been good as we lose Sarr and Uche for perhaps 6 weeks on Afcon.
However, in general terms we look ok particularly if Sarr, Wharton and Nketiah make timely recoveries.

He must've gone out for a night in Blackpool
I will be kind and suggest that he has serious personal problems. He has failed at everything since he arrived from Derby, a pity as there is a player there and he has wasted his talent. I doubt he will get another chance in league football.

I hope he sorts out whatever problems he has and makes something of his life either in or out of football.
