Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

Could we not afford to bring in the new young defender early and then plan a Guehi replacement only on the final day. All seems so hectic when even with Guehi we needed another defender. That said, parish is working with the funds we have available. Are we that tight for cash we have to sell first, Is this why uche is not announced as we needed Guehi money first?
The mins boggles

Just confirmed as a loan deal now! Maybe above is correct. Anyway great to have him

So effectively we have managed in increase our squad by 1 additional player. Totally underwhelming effort by all involved. Competing competitively in 4 competitions is going to be beyond us now. We will need to prioritise and play youngsters in some.

Liverpool were playing games I think. You make a valid point. I suspect they were hoping to force us into a snap decision, instead they lost their target.
Thats the truth of it . They tried getting our man on the cheap and thanks to Glasner and Marc they failed
Parish would have let him go and he probably had good financial reasons for that but when you pull back all the layers of multi million pound deals , ticket prices and new stands it appears we still have people in the club who believe that the football team is the most important factor .

And you can't buy that .

That is nonsense.

He went and had a medical for Liverpool it was agreed.

Plug was pulled when we failed last minute to do some deals for incoming.

We have now lost out on 35-40m.

This whole Transfer window has been a complete mess and maybe with SP wasn't spending money and focused on errors he made related to Europa League they would have done something early but I doubt it we see it every time and this time we have been made too look like the amateurs we are.

Bar the talk of a Parish Glasner stand-off (and I don’t trust football journalists accounts) if you had offered me Guehi stays and two players in today, a defender and a forward, one permanent… Edouard out, I’d have taken that.
Agreed, we also have Riad, Doucoure and Nketia to come back from injury. I assume Guehi will go in January if we get a replacement in. Or, he stays and signs a new contract. Whatever happens it was important that with no experienced CB signing that Guehi stayed 🙂

The next opportunity to wet some beds will be Guehi staying or going in January.

After that the biggie of Mateta's contract which will have one season to go in July.....gonna need to order in some Pampers for that one.

Well, we've ended up somewhere like this as a PL matchday squad. It could well be stronger than last year's team. We'll deal with the Guehi and Glasner issues some other time but for now, let's just go and win the treble.

What an underwhelming few weeks off the pitch it’s been.

I am and always have been a SP fan - but dropping the ball on the UEFA debacle and the ineptitude shown in trying to put forward a coherent case to overturn the decision has certainly dented my confidence in him.

The performance of those involved in negotiations for new players has fallen well below the reasonable expectations of most fans.

An ambitious manager has shown us all that mid table mediocrity doesn’t have to be our destiny - but if SP doesn’t share that ambition how do we move forward?

Look at Old fatty at Forest, he may be many things (most thoroughly unpalatable) but his ambition has seen them rise from Championship also rans to top six challengers in only three or four seasons.

For the first time, I am questioning if SP is the problem?

If, as is being suggested, Uche is a loan with obligation to buy (presumably obligation would be linked to appearances) then if he shows he can be a PL striker by the New Year, the Mateta problem may be partially solved.

Don't you start dictating when I can and can't wet my bed. It's bad enough we have to pay taxes and go to prison for not paying our TV licence but last time I checked urinating on my bedding was a protected bastion of Britishness. Go and live in the EU if you want to get all dictatorial about the dampness of my sleeping quarters.

Far from nonsense grumpy

The medical was in preparation of a transfer ,a transfer that was always on the condition that we would find suitable cover . The manager didn't want it to happen and by all accounts the player was happy to stay and go on a free .
The suitable cover Parish lined up was Brightons 5th choice centre back , what a complete joke .And to rub salt into that open wound he knocked us back for West ham .
Other options were explored , none of which were found to bare fruit .

Parish now has ten months to get Guehi's signature on a piece of paper , to steal a line from another deadline day , or draft day as they call it in the US

'Whatever it takes'

I heard mandatory obligation.

No way out.....In effect a five year contract.

Personally I think it's very good business because I rate him.....but not as a striker, more as a forward....but who knows....He can literally play anywhere, the guy's a powerhouse.
