That seemed to be his preference when Newcastle wanted him but if, maybe a big if, Real Madrid came into the picture it would be quite a decision for him.

The club runs at a loss. We have to have some net transfer profit windows to ensure we keep within PSR and more importantly this year the somewhat stricter UEFA FFP. Also I suspect we've had to repay some Textor loans as part of his departure which probably leaves the coffers a little short of teh readies.

A tad harsh. His head will be in a million places at the moment and let us not forget the machinations arguably played out by his agent. So why did he play yesterday given all of the transfer activity at such an obviously advanced stage?
Gut feeling to what has undoubtedly been a chaotic transfer window for a myriad of reasons that reflects a mid-table club on limited resources yet following a spectacular year with Cup successes and first foray into European competition, is to get behind those 'significants' at the club e.g. Guehi and Glasner. They are at the heart of the Palace family/ community. Next Premiership fixture will hopefully result in raucous fans' chanting for both.
Agree with what you say, Guehi, is well within his rights and hasn’t really put a foot wrong. Parish, couldn’t be blamed for wanting to cash in. If only this had all been handled properly, which it certainly wasn’t ,everyone would have been not only well within their rights but happy with it.
When companies write financial plans they have projected income and projected expenditure. All the TV money and league position and everything else is part of that financial plan.
The projected expenditure is still there (we need to replace Guehi) but the projected income is gone.
That gap is now a black hole that didn't exist yesterday, and it needs filling.
That £35m won't won't send us bust, but it leads to one of two outcomes. Either we spend less money in future, or we increase income. Tough to do the latter, leaves us to do the former.
For the record, £35m is about 1/6 of our annual revenue. It's a lot.

It’s a good point, although it’s £28 mil because of the Chelsea cut. But at some point in the future there will be unhappiness at something and unless new owners buy the club or something significant, this £28 mil we didn’t get for Guehi will be brought up. If Wharton is sold for £130 mil then we’ll be good for a while, and pulling the plug on Guehi to Liverpool and telling levy at Spurs to feck himself shows our strength in sales negotiations, I hope.

I said I wasn’t going to give my view on this window until it was over. So I’ll leave that for tomorrow when the picture is clearer.

The UEFA saga - presumably then you would have just thrown the towel in as soon as it became an issue. Maybe you thought that we were part of a MCO ?? I don’t think Parish could win in that situation - he would either be adjudged as not having the character to challenge them or , as you have, said it was a waste of time.
“ Dancing around the transfer budget “ - if you haven’t realised by now that Palace is a tightly run ship then maybe that’s where that hole in your head is. I don’t claim to be an expert in the clubs finances but I do know that despite consistently losing money the club is considered to be financially stable.
I’ve already provided my view on why we could be dependent on incoming transfer revenue and I think you just choose to ignore it so I won’t bore you with a repeat.
I see little evidence on here that people are “ blinded “ when it comes to Parish. I think he’s made a pigs ear of the Guehi situation but guess what - he ain’t perfect. There are a lot of moving parts to transfers and it’s not difficult to end up in a less than optimal situation. But yes, I think he could have done better during this process.
Anyway, congratulations are due to you for predicting Parish’s procrastination. Maybe now you could stop reminding us on such a regular basis.

My money goes into this club & yes it is a lot of money. (That sum of money is worth more then SP shares)
This is not a zero-sum game, offer Marc a slice. He can make 5 mil and CPFC can still recoup 10-15 mil.

I think I’d rather take the view that the Scousers were about to lowball us for the best ever Centre back deal when they could have offered us more a month or so ago and the deal would already be completed. They messed with this deal as much as we did.
I think we'd all be surprised if that hasn't happened, wouldn't we? It's straight out of the Olise playbook. MG must have said no.

Marc is not interested he was offered contracts multi times.
They didn't low ball us it was a fair price.
Many of us before hand had even said it would be around that sum.
No one else was interested this was the problem and I do wonder if Marcs people had been in talks with only Liverpool the whole time.
It's odd that out of all the other teams which needed a player in this position none would pay this price. (Unless they believe they can get him on a free and putt hat money towards guaranteeing he signs)
I never pay attention to Scousers they always play victims and make excuses.
The deal was not done because we had no signed a replacement and we must of thought we had a few today only to miss out on them which is why the agreed deal was pulled (Nothing to do with OG as some are making out)

This has been mooted numerous times in different forms on here. The only conclusion we can come to is that Guehi point blank refuses to sign any new contract and will leave for very little in January or nothing at season end.
I personally think Guehi has missed a trick and could have negotiated himself a nice little cash bonus and higher salary from a short term extension but as with most footballers he will have been advised by his agent who probably wants the deal that works best for him rather than his client.

Why ?
It was Marc that said he wouldn’t sign another contract.
At the moment he’s tied to the one he was happy to sign and he now has to honour it
Yet when someone offers you a cool 5 mil, fans happiness, stability, and a chance to decide your own future in a year, you'd say he would not even consider it?
I seriously doubt Parish offered him 100k a week more...
