World cup 2026

With 3 palace players possibly playing I suppose I’d better have a look, I’ve got to visit in-laws I don’t like so it’ll be an excuse to leave 😇

Of the goals we scored, very few could be classed as 'good moves' or off the back of an extended run of possession. Rashfords vs croatia maybe? The rest were set peices or individual brilliance. not a problem per se, but demonstrates that we're not great in possession, and prefer the 'Chaos' method, riding our luck and relying on luck breaks and opponents mistakes much of the time.

We never 'asked' the team to play park-the-bus, they did that themselves. Then the manager compounded it, giving them no option but to continue doing it.

You make good points to the last paragraph which I will park.

I do not think your point that we do not have one holding midfielder (singular) who can hold the midfield holds water. That does not justify total capitulation.

And your final point that the players made a unilateral decision to go deep is simply wrong.
 
Hasn't the penny dropped that since the world cup started in 1930, No country has won with a manager who is not from his own country. 🙄

Not with the FA apparently. It's also pretty clear it's nothing to do with being a top club manager.
The players need to be given a style, a tactical framework, work on set pieces but they shouldn't need any technical coaching. If they do, they're not good enough. Technical coaches not required - a team identity is. England don't have one. Spain do, Argentina do - although it's mainly just being dirty.

Klinsman managed the German team to Champions in his first role, all the team needs is to have respect for the person. Shearer would do a better job than Pep.

Shearer perhaps a step too far. But Pep would probably do well. I don't really like Pep but I think he'd demand a certain style and identity. Not sure what Tuchel has demanded. A pay rise?

Shearer seems a little, shall I say, thick when I listen to him on commentary.

Honestly, Lampard would probably be fine. Carrick, Howe. They'll all be out of a job in a year or two - as will Tuchel.

I completely agree with your post. FIFA is a corrupt organisation with links to corrupt people outside of it. I would like to see Europe withdraw and watch FIFA wither on the vine. Not a fan of the liberal democrat leader but I see he has posted similar views on Facebook.
 
For me 2 ex palace have got us so so close , I know people's views of Southgate , but he has done more than any other England manager outside Ramsey , we need someone with a job to finish, and yes lampard is in that bracket , drop this foreign policy start looking get a English guy in charge , thats just my view

I should be watching to nites losers final waiting for our final tomorrow night.
As it is I won’t watch either. Such a f***ing let down it’s unreal.
A bit like being relegated and for a few days your philosophical then the reality kicks in.
At least get bashed in the final and know you had a chance. As it is I would be less pissed off if I was a Germany fan because their hope was lost ages ago and they knew they were crap this time. We bigged it up and did it on the pitch; then that disaster on Wednesday. Feck em.

Both De La Fuente and Scaloni have never managed a game in the top flight, in fact the latter has never been a club manager.

If you intend to create a DNA from national youth level up then surely you promote managers from within the system which is what Spain and Argentina seem to have done to some extent. Lee Carsley anyone? At least we wouldn't have gone negative like we did against Argentina. But then again, we might not have made the semis.
