Where are footballers in the scheme of things? Come off some crappy estate and earn millions - do they automatically become a different class? It's a tricky one because a few of them have no class at all, working or otherwise.

As they have a Trade union the P.F.A. I would guess working class on bloated pay. a bit like plumbers in winter.

are you american or otherwise unfamiliar with all things British ? cos money dont enter into it. Much of the toffs live in tumbledown mansions with buckets to catch the rainwater indoors. They eat Luncheon and high-tea and use napkins. Their 'neighbours' live in another mansion twenty or thirty miles down the road and the toffs ignore the few hundred plebs living in between. Fox-hunting is classy and cool - and should be legal. Like King Charles, they rely on their one favourite overcoat for 60 years. Their English grammar is excellent .....for a person who may have lived 200 years ago.

The Beckhams drive new Range Rovers, buy a new set of teeth every year, a million inch plasma TV, and have absolutely no class at all. Hare-coursing is cruel and should be illegal. I know what you mean, but birth and parents can't be the only thing that counts.

At some point money and current status has to be a factor as well.

Where would you place Lord Prescott, Lord Tebbit, and Baroness Floella Benjamin?
All born into working class households. But working class Lords and Barons seems too much of a stretch for me.
Similarly I struggle with the idea that someone who has £100m in the bank is working class.
