Why is our home form so bad?

The obvious answer is that teams sit back and we can’t break down a low block. Lanzo will undoubtedly point out that playing with a back five is a major factor in that.
The flip side is our relative success away from home where teams attack us and we can hit them on the break. Basically we’re a counterattacking side and that’s it.

Exactly. Add to that the pitch is too small because there is a huge fo supermarket where there used to be pitch and it's easy to see why we can't get in behind at home. In that respect I can understand buying Strand Larsen and lots of crosses once we go to 4 at the back hopefully. Makes me think we have agreed a contract with Lampard as surely these signings are not for Glasner. We have done well for years away from home as home teams don't sit deep for the likes of us so there is more space for the counter attack, which we prefer.

Since we don't look like buying Sainsburys out anytime soon I guess this is our Plan B.

Indeed. To be fair Man City are the best team in the Premier League at home this season so not sure the are the best benchmark of home tactics not working

We have a to long a history of poor form at home , in our first season up this time our home form was good but away was awful , be more worried if we was poor in both

Not sure of the reason(s), but it has been a perennial issue in our PL history
We have averaged 0.10 more points per game at home which is by some way the smallest gap of any club spending more than a single season in the league. The next club is at 0.29 . Newcastle's, by contrast, stand at 0.70
I think, as others have mentioned, the small home pitch is not conducive to our counter-attacking style. Can't wait for more trips to Wembley (unless it is Championship playoffs)

it's simple.

OG's formation 3421 is better suited to away performances - essentially we can defend in a low block of 5 and 2 and counter attack.

At home the formation doesn't work as well, especially when a team sits back.

A 433 will have a No10 in the middle 3 so essentially you have 4 attacking players. We have 3 in our formation.

This is heading to one of the worst ever. Since we got back to the top flight, we have managed at least 6 home wins every season. The most comparable year is 1997/98 when we only secured 11 points at home, compared with 22 away, and got relegated

Yes they were talking about it with Clinton Morrison on sky the other night, we didn’t win at home until April that season and Clinton scored at selhurst on his debut last game of the season
