But if OG wanted him to stay …Nope, he was poached by a Saudi club.

He was poached by the PIF that owned that Saudi club, & the top 4 clubs in their top league & Newcastle, with Ashworth leaving Newcastle for UTD (Albeit unwisely as it turned out) Freedman, if he bides his time & keeps his nose clean could be well on his way to being a key recruitment figure within the PIF or even Group DOF for the PIF - That would be a once in a lifetime opportunity which would be unwise to ignore. But if OG wanted him to stay …

In other words, if he does a good job where he is, he won't be coming back to Palace (unless he hates being in the Middle East, assuming that's where he's based.
The reaction of Wharton is worth watching 😍Indeed, this absolute thunderbastard from Jeff vs Fulham.
What I wouldn't do for one of our current squad to be able to thwack a ball as cleanly as that.

That would be amazing if true. Of all the departures, I think we miss Dougie the most. Guehi and Eze may not be replaceable, but I'd have more confidence in Dougie to find the next best things than this ex Wolves bloke. I'd take a period of stagnation this season if it meant we could have the possibility of a Dougie rebuild later on down the line. As for Glasner, he will be lucky to get another job at all the way it is going at the moment! I have no faith in a back 3 without Guehi either though. Hopefully Dougie has earnt enough in Saudi to feed his kids by now.Parish getting the DoF to speak to Glasner may have been a way of avoiding confrontation, a statement that it’s the DoF’s job to “manage”!the coach, or possibly because he left Guehi’s transfer in the hands of the DoF assuming he would keep Glasner informed/involved. Either way it’s hard to be impressed by our DoF’s performance thus far. I’m clinging on to the hope that his temporary contract is because Dougie is coming back in the summer. If so then maybe working with Popovic as coach is the dream team to rebuild for next season.
All very good but we still have a reluctance to spend money, not just this window. Also ,ets not forget Parish’s constant “habit” of leaving most transfers until the last minuteThat would be amazing if true. Of all the departures, I think we miss Dougie the most. Isn't a lot of that down to market forces though? Agents holding on to deadline day, playing clubs off against each other, inventing stories, leaking stuff to the press etc. Clearly deals can be done early as with Brennan Johnson if selling and buying club want the deal done early and the player and agent are happy. All very good but we still have a reluctance to spend money, not just this window. A Dodo flew over my house at speeds faster than a Peregrine Falcon.Doucoure, Could, come back and play to a decent standard, If, he did for 4 months he becomes a 40m Player, Wharton is 80m player in 18 months, and Lacroix would be 60m+
