What’s our best side for the Forest game

You're including cup games against poor opponents. We've scored six goals in five league games or, to be more accurate, five in five because one was an own goal. Again, we've failed to score in three out of five league games. If that's the attacking side of the team firing on all cylinders then what on earth will we do when it isn't?

All but one league goal so far has come from a wingback. In one way that suggests a more attacking mindset, but it also suggests that even in a more attacking system the forwards we have used are still not scoring, despite a more aggressive approach.

Our games have mostly been more open than they would be under Glasner or Roy, but that's not the same as being more of a goal threat. We could have parked the bus and played on the break and scored as many or more. I'm not suggesting we should, but I don't get the idea we are now somehow more likely to score.
I think some people have seen a more attacking “progressive” footballing side under Sage. What I’ve seen has been a disorganised and chaotic set of performances. It might look attacking in theory but what it mostly has been is just wide open tactics with lots of running around because players either didn’t know their positions in Sage’s system or were having to cover yawning gaps all over the pitch.

What I will say is it was so much tighter, better controlled and organised against Leeds. While we didn’t score we looked as much, if not more, of a threat on the counter.

Yes, I think perhaps a combination of us scoring heavily against terrible cup opposition and the general openness you describe has given the impression that we are both scoring and conceding freely, when we've actually only been doing the latter in league games.

That's up until Leeds. If the performance that day is an indication of what's to come then I think the ship will be steadied. Add in a returning Sarr and it's looking far more viable.

As Sage still shuffles the pack after a chaotic pre season with a lot of new players coming in and our best players drifting back from the World Cup and the Sarr and mateta issues. We were never going to be at full strength with a settled side from day one.

I bet if Forest sit back all game we'd show more against them than we did in the same situation last season. Even with 10 men we didn't have a problem creating against Ipswich when they were sitting on a lead (just ignore what came after...)

Given the manager's squad update today, I reckon we might line up as follows:

Benitez

Lerma Richards Canvot

Khalaili Wharton Timber Mitchell

Kamada JSL Pino

Sarr might just start i/o Kamada but I suspect he'll be brought on for the last 30 or so.

I don't fancy our chances against a Glasner team who tend to better away than at home.
10/10

They didn't sit back but I was sort of right...

Whatever this Palace side is, they don't have problems creating
