West ham meltdown

39 points in the PL is no easy task yet they still went down.

I look in the GD column and each season it is the norm for the worst 3 defences to mean the drop.

It's not that bad Spam and Saints, you are free of VAR for a whole year, the championship is competitive with good facilities everywhere, enjoy your 46 games.

I almost envy them, (with emphasis on the almost).

Last season teams could avoid relegation with 26 points

West Ham were relegated on 42 pts in season 2002-03.

Not quite the ending I was hoping for however one London team is gone and Chelsea don’t even pick up a Conference slot.
They probably have more players on their books than any other team, so with playing time heavily reduced they will have a lot of players for sale or loan.

Yes please to Jarod Bowen, a quality player who has propped up West ham for years. I recall we were in for him when he transferred from Hull. He chose West Ham.

A few reports saying that they were in pretty hot water financially even if they stayed up, so they'll be right in the s*** now.

I find this all very amusing. All my in laws are hammers, so this makes for good family get togethers. Plus, so many of their supporters are so bafflingly self entitled that it's hard not to enjoy this outcome.

West Ham will not be unhappy to see the back of VAR next season.

Arsenal will though as they seemingly benefit generally with fortuitious decisions, 'lucky Arsenal' a tag that has followed them down the years.

Wrong VAR decisions against Spam, including the denial of a goal against Arsenal, would have sent Nottingham Forest down and not them. (Daily Mirror).

Cripes.....

Under the terms of their lease, their already ridiculously low rent is halfed if they get relegated. The deal Boris agreed is a huge burden on the taxpayer in London, we now also have to pay for policing the stadium as well.
